Foreign media leaks! The United States may provide Ukraine with long-range missiles equipped with cluster bombs
After multiple media outlets revealed that the US government may provide Ukraine with an army tactical missile system, Reuters recently reported, citing multiple US officials, that the US government is also considering providing Ukraine with long-range missiles equipped with cluster bombs.
These US officials said that the United States is considering providing Ukraine with an army tactical missile system with a range of over 300 kilometers, or guided multiple rocket launch system missiles capable of carrying cluster ammunition. Meanwhile, it is also possible to provide both types of weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
It is understood that Ukraine currently uses 155mm caliber howitzers with a maximum range of less than 30 kilometers, and a cluster shell can carry up to 48 sub ammunition. The Army Tactical Missile System under consideration can fire 300 or more submunitions, while the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System can fire 404 submunitions.
However, US officials have stated that the US government has not yet made a final decision and it is uncertain whether such weapons will be included in the next batch of weapons provided by the US to Ukraine. The White House declined to comment on the Reuters report.
Russia has repeatedly warned that it will be forced to take "countermeasures" in response to the Western practice of providing cluster ammunition to Ukraine.
