Featured markets are gradually appearing to create new scenes of public spaces along the riverbank
CCTV News: Nowadays, in their leisure time, many people choose to visit various markets for a stroll. This past weekend, a gentle breeze blew by the Huangpu River in Shanghai, and a new market opened. Let's take a look at the report that the reporter sent back from the scene yesterday.
CCTV reporter Yang Ziwei: I am currently located in a market called "Expo Song Garden" in Shanghai. This market has just started its official operation on September 8th and is expected to last for over three months until mid to late November. This is located along the Huangpu River, not far from the Nanpu Bridge, and next to it is the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art. After the beginning of autumn, the cool breeze brushes against the face, making this market a great place for leisure walks and a great spot for taking photos.
Behind me is a very cute little squirrel named "Songsong", which is also a cartoon character representing the design of the Songyuan Market for this World Expo. I also noticed that as night fell, the flow of people in the market was gradually increasing. On weekdays, the daily passenger flow may be around three to four thousand people, but on weekends it will increase to over ten thousand people. The market covers an area of approximately 7000 square meters and combines various sectors such as coffee and food, trendy outdoor sports, camping, and cultural and creative products, striving to create a carnival scene with unique quality and multiple elements.

In addition to taking a walk and cycling along the Huangpu Riverside, you can enter the market and taste various delicacies. When you're full, take a look at the cultural and creative stalls. There are over 30 cultural and creative stalls here, and you can also enjoy the shadow puppetry performances of intangible cultural heritage handicrafts from zero distance. When tired, you can take a break in the camping area, enjoy exciting music performances, or watch an outdoor movie to enjoy the multiple feast of taste buds and audio-visual experience.
Since the beginning of this year, we have seen the gradual opening of distinctive markets like this, attracting more people to gather and lighting up the Huangpu Riverside in Shanghai, adding more vitality and infinite possibilities to the waterfront space here.
