Entering the main construction phase, there has been new progress in the Jinhai Road renovation project

The reporter learned that the first phase of the Jinhai Road renovation project has been basically completed, and the project has entered the main construction phase.

On the north side of Jinhai Road, a continuous construction area is formed by the blue fence, and the construction of pile foundations and bearing platforms is carried out one after another. Outside the fence, there is continuous traffic, maintaining normal traffic.

Jinhai Road is an important east-west transportation artery in the northern part of Pudong New Area. There is Metro Line 9 underground, and many large residential buildings, enterprises, office buildings, and schools are densely distributed along the route. There is a high flow of people and vehicles during morning and evening rush hours.

Sheng Bowei, the project manager of the Municipal Department II of Pudong Construction Management Company, a subsidiary of Pudong Development Group, introduced that in order to ensure the normal travel of surrounding citizens and vehicles during the construction period, under the unified leadership of the New Area Construction and Transportation Commission and the strong support of the city and district traffic police departments, the project management department continuously optimizes the traffic channel design plan. According to the principle of "occupying one for one", the original motor vehicle lane is relocated to the newly built temporary motor vehicle access road through overpasses, and the original sidewalks and non motor vehicle lanes on both sides are relocated to the newly built sidewalks and non motor vehicle access roads. At the same time, for areas with high traffic such as subway entrances and important plots, dedicated non motorized vehicle parking areas are arranged to form a "one by one special" design scheme, effectively ensuring slow traffic travel.

The Jinhai Road renovation project has a total length of about 7 kilometers and adopts a scale layout of "main elevated two-way 6 lanes+ground auxiliary road two-way 6 lanes". A total of 4 pairs of parallel ramps are set up along the entire line. The route passes from west to east through roads such as Jingang Road, Donglu Road, Jinjing Road, Shenjiang Road, Jinji Road, Jinsui Road, Ganqiao Road, Minbao Road, Gutang Road, East China Road, and Minlei Road.

There are many intersections along the road, making traffic organization difficult. At the same time, the entire project is co built with Line 9 of the rail transit, involving a total of 5 stations, and some pile foundations are relatively close to the tunnel of Line 9. They are also co built with Line 21 of the rail transit and Chongming Line, and the construction conditions are complex. The dense distribution of important pipelines such as raw water pipes, high-pressure gas pipes, and ultra-high voltage power lines along the line has also become a difficult problem that must be overcome during construction.

In order to avoid giving way to Metro Line 9, the elevated positions along Jinhai Road have been optimized and construction measures have also been optimized. Sheng Bowei stated that for pile foundations close to subway tunnels, measures such as resonance free hydraulic vibration hammers, steel casing, and Larsen piles are adopted during construction to ensure the normal operation of the subway. At the same time, special protection will be provided for the reserved pipelines, and the ultra-high voltage power transmission lines will be grounded and elevated. High pressure gas pipelines will be relocated to create conditions for construction.

At present, the greening relocation of the project has been completed by 90%, and the pipeline relocation has been completed by 60%. The construction of the project is fully progressing according to plan. The renovation project is expected to be completed and opened to traffic on the entire line by June 2025. Among them, it is planned to achieve the completion of the elevated structure on the entire line by the end of 2024.

Through this renovation, the upgrading and expansion of Jinhai Road will be achieved, further strengthening the connection between the central urban area of Pudong and the northeast region, increasing the density of the road network, enhancing the traffic volume of the road network, supporting the development of the "Golden Central Road", Jinqiao Urban Sub center, Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Caolu Town, and improving the satisfaction and perception of citizens in travel.
