Egyptian Minister of Environment: Egypt China has broad prospects for cooperation in the field of environmental protection
Cairo, September 15th (Xinhua) - Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmin Faad recently stated that China's technology in the fields of environment and climate is very attractive to Egypt, and the two countries have broad prospects for cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
The first Environment and Climate Investment Forum was held on the 12th in the new administrative capital of Egypt, east of Cairo. During the forum, Fouad said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China's technology in the fields of environment and climate is applicable to Egypt, and the opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and China in the energy sector are expanding.
Fuad gave an example that China is very advanced in the field of biogas application technology, with large-scale, medium, and small-scale biogas application scenarios. The two countries can cooperate in rural areas to generate electricity through agricultural waste and livestock manure.
"Through cooperation with the Chinese side, we have successfully obtained energy-saving and low-energy air conditioning equipment and technology for streets, which will be used in nature reserves throughout Egypt, especially environmentally friendly buildings." Fouad said that Egypt has a large population, water resources are scarce, and the manufacturing industry excessively consumes natural resources, especially energy and water. China's experience in recycling industrial water is worth learning from.
The first Forum on Environment and Climate Investment is another environmental event hosted by Egypt, following the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change last year. The aim is to explore commercial environmental projects that can create employment opportunities and improve the living conditions of citizens.
Fouad said that the forum is a platform to showcase projects such as waste management, energy, bioeconomy, and environmental tourism, which will promote the contribution of the private sector in protecting the environment, attracting foreign investment, and providing green employment opportunities to help address climate change.
