The standard time for the census is December 31, 2023

The relevant person in charge of the National Bureau of Statistics stated that the economic census is a major national survey of national conditions and strength, consisting of three cyclical national census projects: population census and agricultural census.

The history of China's economic census can be traced back to the national industrial and mining enterprise census in 1950. The economic census is conducted every 5 years, with the standard time point being December 31st of the census year. The data during the census period is the annual data of the census year. At present, China has conducted four national economic censuses in 2004, 2008, 2013, and 2018, respectively.

The standard time for the fifth national economic census is December 31, 2023, and the data for the census period is for the year 2023. This census will be the first to comprehensively carry out input-output surveys. The organization has completed the division of census areas and the collection of building information, as well as the selection of census officers and census instructors during the inventory stage. As of now, approximately 2.1 million census officers have been selected nationwide.
