Moscow, September 15th (Xinhua) - The Russian National Space Group announced on its official website that Russia successfully launched the "Soyuz MS-24" manned spacecraft on the same day, and the spacecraft has docked with the International Space Station.
According to the news, at 18:44 Moscow time, the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket took off from the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan and about 9 minutes later sent the Soyuz-MS-24 spacecraft, carrying two Russian astronauts and one American astronaut, into low Earth orbit. At 21:53 Moscow time, the spacecraft docked with the International Space Station.
According to reports, the three astronauts who arrived at the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft were Russian astronaut Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chubu, and American astronaut Laura O'Hara. They will replace two Russian astronauts and one American astronaut who will enter the International Space Station in September 2022, and carry out dozens of scientific experiments and four spacewalks as planned.
In addition, the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft also transported approximately 120 kilograms of cargo to the International Space Station, including photo and video equipment, backup information storage media, and daily necessities for space station personnel.
