Disqualify!, Li Nan, Li Chunjiang
According to official news on the evening of the 20th, the first meeting of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame Committee in 2023 made a decision in accordance with Article 29 of the Regulations of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame to cancel the eligibility of Li Chunjiang and Li Nan to be recommended to the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023.
In April of this year, due to a negative match in the first round of the 2022-2023 Chinese Men's Basketball Professional League playoffs, Shanghai Jiushi team and Suzhou Kentria team were disqualified from playing in the CBA league that season, and both clubs were deducted 5 million yuan in league funds.
In that series, Shanghai men's basketball team defeated Jiangsu men's basketball team 2-1 to advance, but the performance of both teams in the game was questioned by the outside world. Afterwards, the Chinese Basketball Association issued a statement stating that after verification, it was determined that the Shanghai team had a negative performance in the second game of the 12 in 8 playoffs on April 11 and the Jiangsu team had a negative performance in the third game on April 14, which seriously violated the spirit of sports.
The Discipline and Ethics Committee of the Chinese Basketball Association has also made a penalty decision: to cancel the ranking and participation qualifications of the Shanghai Suzhou CBA teams for the current season. Reduce league funding by 5 million RMB for Shanghai Jiushi Basketball Club and Jiangsu Kentria Basketball Club respectively. Li Chunjiang, the head coach of the Shanghai team, shall suspend his coaching registration qualification within 5 years from the date of the punishment decision; Li Nan, the head coach of Jiangsu team, will have his coaching registration suspended for three years from the date of the punishment decision.
On the evening of the 20th, the Chinese Basketball Association officially announced that the nomination list for the 2023 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame has been determined, consisting of 29 people and 3 teams, covering four sequences: "Outstanding Athlete", "Outstanding Coach", "Outstanding Collective", and "Special Contributor".
Last year, Li Chunjiang was selected as a coach for the 2022 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame 16 person nomination list, and Li Nan was selected as a male athlete for the 2022 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame 30 person nomination list.
It is reported that the activation and reset rules for the 2023 China Basketball Hall of Fame referral activity are: those who have not entered the next stage in the previous session will automatically reset in this session. If they have not advanced in this session, the next referral activity will be vacant.
However, this year, both Li Nan and Li Chunjiang have lost their eligibility for recommendation, which is regrettable.
