Coordinated refund, Lhasa official response "same group but different prices": Travel agencies have the right not to refund the price difference
According to the "Leadership Message Board" of People's Daily on September 22, in response to complaints from tourists about "different prices for the same car, same group, and same accommodation", the official response from Lhasa City stated that similar disputes have repeatedly occurred in recent years. "Different prices for the same group" is a market economy behavior, and travel agencies have the right not to refund the price difference. After coordination, travel agencies have refunded 1500 yuan.
On September 15, netizens left a message on the "Leaders' Message Board" of People's Daily Online saying that I was a tourist who came to Xizang in admiration of his reputation. My appeal was that the travel agency would refund the difference, 1000 yuan for one person and 2000 yuan for two people. I contacted Ji *, the tour guide of Xizang Feng * Company on the Internet, and made a seven day and six night trip to Xizang. I arrived in Lhasa on September 9 to sign a contract with Xizang Feng * Company and pay 5660 yuan in addition to the deposit. During the trip, our meals did not meet the standards promised by the tour guide, and there was a significant price difference between us and tourists who stayed in the same car or group. We hope the travel agency can refund the price difference.
On September 22, the mayor of Lhasa replied that after receiving comments from netizens, we attach great importance to it and request the Municipal Tourism Development Bureau to verify and handle it.
After verification, it was found that the phenomenon of "different prices for the same group" in individual group buying was caused by objective factors such as registration channels, time, and cost differences, which is a market economy behavior rather than a problem with the quality of tourism services. Secondly, according to the principle of "free trade" and contractual agreements, travel agencies have the right not to refund the price difference. After coordination, the travel agency refunded netizens 1500 yuan, and netizens agreed.
In recent years, similar disputes have repeatedly emerged, and the tourist experience has correspondingly decreased. In view of this, the Tourism Bureau of Lhasa City will continue to increase its regulatory efforts on the standardization of the travel agency service industry, and improve tourist satisfaction with travel.
According to the previous report of the surging news, on June 16 this year, another netizen reported on the "Leaders' Message Board" of People's Daily Online that he had just graduated and contacted Xizang Impression Travel Agency online, but found that his group fee was much higher than that of other tourists during the 7-day trip. "The travel group fee paid by the two of us was 4760 yuan, plus 300 yuan for insurance, totaling 5060 yuan. Each person was 2530 yuan, and the cost for other passengers was about 1200 yuan per person." The netizen said that the travel agency staff explained that this price is applicable to travelers under 28 years old, and travelers over 28 years old will be more than 1000 yuan cheaper due to their purchasing power. This netizen doubts that this is discrimination against young people and hopes that the travel agency will refund the price difference.
On June 27, the staff of Xizang Impression Travel Agency told Pengpai that they did not know about it. It denies the existence of price inconsistency before and after the age of 28, and believes that the price inconsistency should be caused by different registration channels or times. The reporter requested to communicate with the person in charge of the travel agency who was familiar with the matter, but received no response.
