On September 15th, according to CCTV news, a crocodile farm in Beijieluo Village, Maonan District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, was affected by heavy rainfall from the 9th to the 11th. Some walls of the farm collapsed due to flooding, and some crocodiles swam out of the farm. After the incident, local agricultural and rural, emergency, public security, fire and other professional forces quickly launched a search for the escaped crocodiles. After a 4-day search, 62 crocodiles have been captured so far.
On the afternoon of the 14th, the CCTV reporter saw at the scene that nearly 70% of the accumulated water in the crocodile breeding pond had been drained. The on-site staff were using sonar detectors, drones, and artificial nets to carry out search work and count the remaining crocodiles in the farm.

According to the agricultural and rural department, before the incident, there were a total of 71 crocodiles, 69 adult crocodiles, and 2 juvenile crocodiles in the breeding farm, all of which were Siamese crocodiles. At present, local rural agriculture, emergency, public security, fire and other departments have jointly increased their search efforts, further expanding the search scope, and enclosing areas such as Beijie Luo Village and Pengcun Lake. District, street, and village officials have increased publicity and urged villagers along the line to take precautions and not approach or step into enclosed areas.
As of 20:00 on the 15th, 62 crocodiles, 60 adult crocodiles, and 2 juvenile crocodiles have been captured locally, and the search is still ongoing.
