City level demonstration! Pudong, a vegetable market, actively promotes the construction of "smart+" with digital support

The smart large screen at the entrance scrolls through the daily menu prices and popular merchant information, and the smart cash register system integrates functions such as AI dish recognition, merchant sales data collection, and product source tracing... The renovated Nanquan Branch of Pushang Vegetable Market, as one of the five city level demonstration smart vegetable markets in Pudong, meets the public with a brand new appearance. This is also a result of the construction of Tangqiao's "boutique urban area", responding to the needs of people's livelihood and exploring new paths to achieve a better life.

The former Nanquan Vegetable Market was a public welfare vegetable market that radiated to more than 10 neighborhood committees and nearly 30000 residents in the surrounding area. It began operation in 1997 and underwent three renovations over the years. However, over time, the demand for quality of life among residents continued to increase. Last year, in response to the requirements for the construction of a "boutique urban area", Tangqiao proposed a plan for the construction of a "model community". During the consultation process, the issue of Nanquan Restaurant was repeatedly raised by residents, and the environment and services of the restaurant needed to be upgraded.

Leaving the best resources for the people and serving them with high-quality supply, Tangqiao Street has decided to incorporate the Nanquan Vegetable Market renovation project into the overall plan, and has also taken the lead in exploring solutions to the renovation problems of similar vegetable markets. With the support of the district commerce commission, the renovation project of the vegetable market was approved and included in the 2023 Pudong New Area Public Welfare Project.

The renovation of Nanquan Restaurant began in the first half of this year, and after four months of construction, it returned to the community in the appearance of Nanquan Branch of Pushang Vegetable Market. This renovation focuses on intelligent transformation and upgrading, adhering to the principles of "gathering people's intelligence, gathering strength, and solving difficult problems". On the one hand, the street actively introduces Pushang Group, which has rich experience in vegetable market operation, to participate in the implementation of renovation with its investment, and entrusts operation and management to explore the market-oriented path of vegetable market renovation and improve operational management capabilities; On the other hand, during the process of renovating the vegetable market, the street attaches great importance to the suggestions of the masses, convenes multiple departmental communication meetings and resident hearings, fully listens to public opinion, and effectively solves the most concerned and direct problems of the masses.

The simple ceiling originally built with colored steel tiles above the vegetable market was unable to isolate the sound inside, causing noise and disturbance to the residents. Many residents are concerned about how to modify and upgrade it. After fully considering the opinions of residents, the design team adopted a steel trough concrete brick structure roof, which not only eliminates safety hazards, but also blocks the rise of odors and noise in the fully enclosed vegetable market structure, gaining recognition from the majority of residents.

In July this year, as one of the five municipal demonstration smart vegetable markets planned to be built in Pudong, the Nanquan branch of the Pushang Vegetable Market was the first to put into operation. The new market achieved comprehensive upgrades in terms of environment, management, and functions. Equipped with a main entrance service desk, shared rest area, smart screen, central air conditioning and fresh air system, it completely solves the existing safety, noise, and environmental problems, creating a comfortable and convenient shopping environment.

Since the opening of the new market, the passenger flow has significantly increased, with a daily passenger flow of up to 5000 to 6000 people, achieving a dual improvement in environmental and economic benefits. Advanced operation and management models are also introduced here, adopting a smart agricultural and trade system to achieve full process information management of "smart disclosure, smart query, smart detection, smart weighing, and smart payment", allowing residents to "buy with confidence".
