According to the new regulations, Chinese citizens and Chinese permanent residents have the right to enter Georgia without a visa and stay in the country for 30 days."
The Georgian government has made modifications to the relevant orders regarding the approval of the visa free country list.
According to reports, Prime Minister Galibashvili announced earlier on the 11th that he has decided to abolish the visa system for Chinese citizens. He stated that this move aims to receive more Chinese tourists and attract more Chinese investment.
Garibashvili visited China at the end of July, during which Georgia and China announced the establishment of a strategic partnership.
According to TASS on September 11th, Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davytashvili stated at a briefing held after the government meeting that the Georgian authorities are negotiating with China Southern Airlines to increase the daily number of flights between the two countries to 10.
According to the report, Davitashvili said, "A few days ago, we had negotiations with China Southern Airlines to increase direct flights and reach cities. We have decided that in the near future, there will be at least multiple flights per day, but that is not enough. Our ambition is great. To put it bluntly, our goal may be 10 flights per day."
Vice Premier Ge pointed out that increasing flight schedules is necessary for developing the tourism industry and attracting Chinese tourists. In January 2023, China Southern Airlines resumed its direct flights from China to Georgia, which were interrupted by the epidemic. The flights were operated between Urumqi and Tbilisi.
