The Chinese Beidou base station has been put into use for the first time in the Xisha Sea area.
The reporter learned from the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport that on September 15th, the Beijiao Lighthouse and Langhua Reef Lighthouse in Xisha, China completed the construction of the shore based base station of the Beidou Ship Automatic Identification System. Two Beidou base stations have been officially put into use for the first time in the Xisha area, solving the blind spot problem of China's ship automatic identification shore based system coverage in this area.
It is understood that the two base stations use China's independently developed BeiDou positioning system, and the ship automatic identification system data of the base stations are connected to the shore based system of China's ship automatic identification system, using BeiDou satellite communication technology for data transmission. To provide strong support for the navigation supervision of ships in Sansha, island and reef ecological protection, and to provide safer and more reliable navigation assistance services for ships in the South China Sea.
