Biden and Zelensky have met!, Critical moments
According to Agence France Presse on September 15th, senior US officials announced on the 15th that Ukrainian President Zelensky will hold talks with US President Biden at the White House next week and further discuss US support for the Kiev Russia conflict.
According to reports, US National Security Assistant Jack Sullivan stated that this will be Biden's second meeting with Zelensky at the White House since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, coinciding with a "critical moment" when Ukraine is seeking progress in counterattacking the Russian military.
Sullivan told the media that the meeting coincides with a critical moment as Russia is working hard to continue military operations in Ukraine.
He also said that it is expected that the United States and its allies will simultaneously announce further military assistance to Ukraine next week.
According to reports, the Ukrainian contact group responsible for coordinating aid to Kiev will hold a meeting in Ramstein, Germany next week.
Zelensky is expected to travel to New York early next week to attend the United Nations General Assembly and meet with leaders from multiple countries.
Zelensky's visit to Washington coincides with a debate in the US Congress on providing $24 billion in new military aid to Kiev.
Sullivan stated that Zelensky will travel to the United States Capitol to meet with Republican and Democratic leaders.
The White House stated that it is expected that both parties in Congress will ultimately continue to support Ukraine.
According to the report, Sullivan said, "To be frank, both Republicans and Democrats recognize that for their own interests, the United States cannot let go of Ukraine at this critical moment, let alone moral responsibility."
