A photo caught attention, Lula meets with Zelensky
According to the Global Online website of Brazil, on the afternoon of September 20th, Brazilian President Lula finally held a long-awaited meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky. The two held talks in New York during their attendance at the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
According to the report, Lula posted on social media summarizing his meeting with Zelensky in a few sentences.
"Today, I had a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky in New York. We had a good conversation on building the path to peace and the importance of maintaining open dialogue between our two countries," Lula wrote.
The photo accompanying this message caught people's attention because Lula did not smile as usual when shaking hands with Zelensky in the photo.
The report believes that the meeting between Lula and Zelensky is one of the most anticipated meetings in New York this week, as Lula is one of the heads of state who insists on establishing a dialogue mechanism to seek peace between Russia and Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Lula's actions are not always welcomed by the Ukrainian side. Zelensky has previously criticized Lula's position, stating that "I think it is inappropriate for his ideas to be so consistent with President Putin's ideas. This does not contribute to achieving peace.".
The report mentions that some analysts believe that the disagreement between Lula and Zelensky during their first joint event this year is an example of the noise in the relationship between the two presidents.
Nevertheless, Lula has repeatedly reiterated her willingness to personally promote peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Since the beginning of this year, he has had video calls with Zelensky in March and telephone conversations with Putin in May.
He also received an invitation from the heads of state of Russia and Ukraine to visit Moscow and Kiev, but Lula stated that he would only do so if he could visit both countries simultaneously. He never specified when this would happen, but he has stated more than once that it will not happen in 2023.
