6 rivers experienced floods exceeding warning levels, and heavy rains hit 9 districts in Chongqing
The reporter learned from the Chongqing Meteorological Department on the 21st that from the night of the 20th to the early morning of the 21st, heavy rains fell in 9 districts of Chongqing, and heavy rains occurred in 20 districts and counties. It is expected that some areas will still have heavy rains on the 21st. At the same time, the reporter learned from the Chongqing Hydrological Monitoring Center that due to the influence of rainfall, 6 rivers including the Sunxi River in Jiangjin, Chongqing, have exceeded the warning water level. To ensure safety, many trains passing through the relevant sections have been suspended.
From 20:00 on the 20th to 7:00 on the 21st, most areas in the central and western parts of Chongqing experienced heavy to torrential rain, with local torrential rain, and the rest of the areas experienced light to moderate rain. 51 rain gauges in 9 districts including Dadukou, Banan, and Qijiang experienced torrential rain, and 256 rain gauges in 20 districts and counties including Yuzhong, Jiangbei, and Shapingba experienced torrential rain. The maximum rainfall occurred in Qiezi Creek, Dadukou, at 160.2 mm. From 7:00 on the 20th to 7:00 on the 21st, the maximum rainfall occurred in Yudong, Banan, at 188.9 mm.
In view of the possibility that rainfall in some sections of the railway may exceed the standard during this round of heavy rainfall, the railway department has suspended several trains passing through the relevant sections to ensure the safety of passenger train operation and passenger travel. Chongqing Maritime Safety Administration has implemented a meteorological rainstorm level 3 water traffic safety warning from 6:00 on June 21, covering the area from Qingcaobei to Shicaoxi.
According to the Chongqing Hydrological Monitoring Center, due to the influence of rainfall, six rivers, including Jiangjin Sunxi River, Fuxing River, Luzi River, Feilong River, Qijiang Qingxi River, and Fuling Youjiang River, experienced floods exceeding the warning level, of which Jiangjin Sunxi River and Fuxing River experienced floods exceeding the guaranteed water level. As of 8:00 on the 21st, Jiangjin Sunxi River, Fuxing River, Qijiang Qingxi River, and Fuling Youjiang River were still above the warning level. The remaining 45 small and medium-sized rivers, including Qijiang Guofu River and Jiangjin Egongxi, experienced a rise of 1 to 5 meters, and the highest water level did not exceed the warning level.
It is expected that from daytime to night on the 21st, moderate to heavy rain will fall in the eastern western and central eastern parts of Chongqing, with torrential rain in some areas, and light to moderate rain turning cloudy in the rest of the areas. It is expected that by 8:00 on the 22nd, some small and medium-sized rivers in the central and western, northeastern and southeastern parts of Chongqing may experience significant water rise, and some rivers may experience floods above the warning level; from 8:00 on the 22nd to 8:00 on the 24th, the water level of small and medium-sized rivers in Chongqing will be basically stable, with no significant water rise.
Previously, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Chongqing Flood Control and Drought Relief Emergency Plan", Chongqing City launched a level IV flood control emergency response for 26 districts and counties including Qijiang, Fuling, and Youyang at 10:00 on June 20.
