"Speed of Life and Death" fainted in the lobby of the community hospital, 17 minutes, 1870 compressions: Sunday afternoon
In 30 minutes of life and death, from the community to the ambulance, and then to the regional medical center, a rescue operation was being urgently staged: On the afternoon of June 16, someone suddenly fell to the ground in the lobby of the Tianshan Road Community Health Service Center in Changning District. At this time, the outpatient service had ended.
At around 15:20, Mr. Wang, a resident of Pudong, was preparing to watch a movie with his friends nearby, but he felt uncomfortable in his stomach and wanted to check out the doctor at the nearby Tianshan Community Health Center.
At 15:25, Mr. Wang suddenly fainted at the elevator entrance on the first floor just after he entered the center. His companion shouted for help, and the security guard on duty, Master Peng, rushed to the scene immediately after hearing it and found that the resident was unconscious. "There are no outpatient clinics on Sunday afternoon!" In an emergency, he immediately rushed to the ward on the fourth floor. The ward nurse on duty, Liu Huili, immediately notified the chief doctor on duty, Wang Xin, and the ward doctor on duty, Zhu Xusheng.
At 15:28, two doctors arrived at the scene and found that the resident was not responding and determined that he had stopped breathing and his heart had stopped beating. In a hurry, Zhu Xusheng immediately called 120 and Wang Xin began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
At this time, ward nurses Niu Fangfang and Wu Huilin got off the elevator and found the danger, and immediately took the initiative to join the rescue team. Wu Huilin rushed to the rescue room to take out oxygen, rescue equipment and medicines; Niu Fangfang opened the patient's intravenous channel and injected adrenaline according to the doctor's instructions. During this period, Zhu Xusheng and Wang Xin took turns to perform chest compressions. After 17 minutes and 1,870 uninterrupted repetitions, they finally breathed a sigh of relief when they felt the pulse, which meant that Mr. Wang's heartbeat had recovered.
At around 15:42, the 120 ambulance arrived at the scene and the rescue was handed over to 120 for defibrillation.
At 15:55, Mr. Wang was transferred to Tongren Hospital for further rescue. At the same time, Wang Yuanxing, the chief of the medical department, contacted the chest pain center of Tongren Hospital and informed him of his condition, which was directly communicated to the chest pain center. After arriving at the hospital, Mr. Wang underwent coronary angiography and was diagnosed with acute anterior wall myocardial infarction. After the stent was implanted, he is still receiving follow-up treatment.
"During the rescue process, the community medical staff cooperated professionally and remained calm, which won precious time for the patient." As the doctor at the chest pain center said, with the continuous construction of regional medical alliances, the cooperation between community health service centers and regional medical centers has become increasingly close, so that family doctors are no longer just "health gatekeepers", but also "guardians of life" at critical moments.
