Pudong explores high-quality "kindergarten-primary school transition", 119 kindergartens are paired with 91 primary schools
The transition from kindergarten to primary school has "zero foundation", but it does not mean "zero preparation". How can kindergarten children adapt to the upcoming primary school life as soon as possible? Vanke Experimental Primary School and Vanke Experimental Kindergarten, which are located next to each other, have joined hands to build a "bridge" for the children. On June 18, the launching ceremony of the Pudong New Area's Kindergarten-Primary School Transition Project to Create an Experimental Zone for Improving the Quality of Kindergarten Education and Care of the Ministry of Education was held at Zhangjiang Classic Kindergarten. 119 "experimental kindergartens" and 91 "experimental schools" have "joined hands" to explore the deep integration of kindergarten-primary school transition under the guidance of 9 major education groups and 5 preschool districts, and work together to build a ladder of happy growth for children.
Pudong New Area is responsible for providing high-quality preschool education services to more than a quarter of the city's children. In 2023, Pudong New Area will become a pilot area for improving the quality of kindergarten care and education and a pilot area for compulsory education teaching reform. It is also the only area in the country where both preschool education and compulsory education are pilot areas. This also provides favorable conditions and broad space for the two stages to jointly focus on the continuity of children's experience development, educational and scientific research collaboration, teacher development cooperation, and overall improvement of education quality.
Pudong New Area has established a pilot zone for improving the quality of kindergarten education and care under the Ministry of Education. With the goal of "building a ladder of happiness and growth together" and the main line of "scientific connection between preschool and primary school with deep two-way integration", it will carry out "regional actions based on the continuous development of children's experience to improve the quality of kindergarten education and care" in the next two years. Pudong has selected 119 "experimental gardens" and 91 "experimental schools" to participate in this action, promoting the formation of an interactive communication mechanism with deep two-way integration between the two stages of education and carrying out closer cooperation.
Zhangjiang Classic Kindergarten is a kindergarten that excels in "children's scientific enlightenment education". In the 19 years since its opening, children have been immersed in the carefully crafted scientific and agricultural reality in the kindergarten during their daily activities, exploring the growth secrets of dozens of animals and plants in the "secret garden". In the future, Zhangjiang Classic Kindergarten will continue to work with Zhangjiang High-tech Experimental Primary School to integrate science courses for children.

On that day, 12 municipal experts were hired as members of the expert group of the experimental zone. Ji Mingze, vice president of Shanghai Teachers Education College and member of the Basic Education Teaching Quality Evaluation and Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, said that primary schools need "zero starting point" teaching, but for young children, it is definitely not "zero preparation". High-quality basic education and high-quality preschool education require high-quality kindergarten-primary school transition. He hopes that the "hand-in-hand" between kindergartens and primary schools in Pudong New Area can become a "model" for more schools to work on kindergarten-primary school transition.
