The "Golden Waterway" widens as it goes
Fujian was once an important starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, and Quanzhou Citong Port was known as the "largest port in the East" during the Song and Yuan dynasties. In the early 15th century, the famous Chinese navigator Zheng He made seven ocean voyages and anchored in Fujian, waiting for the wind to open the sea, connecting sea routes with more than 30 countries and regions around the world.
Today, taking advantage of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", the "Silk Road Maritime Transport" is striving to build a new international trade channel linking land and sea, both at home and abroad, and east and west. The "golden waterway" is getting wider and wider.
Sri Lanka is one of the first countries to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" with China, and Colombo Port City is the representative of bilateral cooperation. Sri Lanka's Minister of State for Investment Promotion, Amunugama, said that sea transportation is an important part of global trade, and as an island country, Sri Lanka has excellent ports. "China has provided support in the field of infrastructure, and 'Silk Road Shipping' has helped Sri Lanka achieve connectivity with global shipping, making significant progress in our economic development, attracting more investors, and promoting the country's development."
