Shanghai News Media Football Invitational: Creating a Green Field "Journalist's Home", Media People from the Yangtze River Delta Gather on Chongming Island
On September 17th, the 2023 Shanghai Urban Amateur League "Kucao Cup" Shanghai News Media Football Invitational, guided by the Shanghai Journalists Association and the Shanghai Sports Bureau, was held in Chongming, a world-class ecological island. Eight media teams from Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, as well as more than 160 representatives of journalists, gathered at Fusheng Football Stadium to build a "journalist's home" on the green field through club friendly and integrated exchanges.
The host Chongming District Integrated Media Center football team ultimately won the championship.
After two days of competition, representatives of news media workers from the Yangtze River Delta who usually hold pens and carry cameras, used competitions as a medium to exercise and fitness. In the end, Chongming Rong Media, Minhang Rong Media, SMG Rong Media, Shanghai Sports Journalists United, Yangpu Rong Media, Zhejiang Jiaxing Media, SMT, and Jiangsu Haimen Rong Media Football Team ranked in the top eight respectively. Ren Jun was named the Best Shooter, Zhu Jianwei was elected the Best Goalkeeper, and local referee Ni Yang from Chongming won the Golden Whistle Award.
As the runner up of the previous competition, the Yangpu District Integrated Media Football Team demonstrated a good spirit and received unanimous praise. Leader Li Jun's service and playing experience are both close to 30 years: "In the era of media integration, news gathering and editing work requires more professional division of labor, team collaboration, and emphasis on integration. Participating in football matches can better experience the importance of team collaboration."
The Shanghai Sports Journalists United has participated in the competition for the third consecutive time.
The Jiangsu Haimen Integrated Media Football Team participated in the competition for the first time.
The Jiangsu Haimen Rongmei Football Team participated in the competition for the first time. The whole team took a minibus and arrived at the field through Linyong Qidu. "Chongming and Haimen belong to two different regions, but they share the same culture and language, and share a common sense of homesickness." Team leader Xu Songling explained that with the establishment of stations for the North Along the Yangtze River high-speed railway in Haimen and Chongming, communication between journalists in the two regions has become more frequent and closer. "At the end of last year, our two integrated media outlets jointly conducted a wonderful live broadcast on the progress of the North Along the Yangtze River high-speed railway construction."
The competition strives to create a platform for media representatives in the Yangtze River Delta to exchange and share ideas.

Wu Jie, a senior journalist from Jiaxing Media in Zhejiang, believes that cultural and sports exchanges have a unique charm. "On the field, you are opponents, off the field, you are peers, and you are friends. We look forward to the organizers creating a platform for communication and sharing among representatives of the growth triangle media through the annual Shanghai News Media Football Invitational."
Tong Jie, who works for Shanghai Newspaper Group, is also the captain of the Shanghai Sports Journalists Team. He stated that media colleagues from the Yangtze River Delta use sports clubs and event platforms to assist more journalists in communicating media integration, participating in national fitness, and valuing physical health.
The final will be live streamed through multiple platforms such as the Shanghai Chongming APP.

As the naming party of the event, Shanghai Yuhaitang Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. and the event organizing committee have teamed up to build an activity platform that is conducive to the unity and communication of journalists and beneficial to their physical and mental health. It is reported that "Kucao" is a homophonic term for "Kucao". There is a well-known plant on Chongming Island - Chongming bitter grass. As early as 1681, there was a clear record of Chongming bitter grass in the "Products" section of the Kangxi Chongming County Annals.
Outside the media football invitation venue, set up Chongming Haowu Market to promote Chongming's agricultural and tourism specialty products to participating players and fans, and explore the integration of agriculture, sports and tourism.
In 2020, Chongming Kucao successfully applied for intangible cultural heritage. Shanghai Yuhaitang Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd., which shoulders the task of pioneering rural revitalization, has currently developed a series of products such as bitter grass tea food and cosmetics. Supporting this competition is also an attempt by this local enterprise in Chongming to explore the integration of agriculture, sports, and tourism development.
