To provide suggestions for deepening financial innovation in Shanghai, the "Million Round Table China Day" was held in Shanghai
Recently, the Million Round Table, an international association composed of life insurance and financial professionals with a history of nearly 100 years, held its first forum in Shanghai. The "Million Round Table China Day" event, jointly organized with the Shanghai International Trade Promotion Commission and the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce, with a scale of over a thousand people, discussed topics such as how Shanghai can deepen financial innovation and how insurance practitioners can provide precise services to customers.
According to Zhou Minhao, President of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce, at the end of 2019, Million Roundtable and the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce held a series of online activities with insurance as the theme, marking the beginning of their cooperation. In the second half of 2020, Million Roundtable established a representative office in Shanghai, with the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade as its business supervisory unit.
As of now, Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce has over a thousand member enterprises of various types and has established friendly cooperative relationships with more than 150 chambers of commerce and economic organizations around the world. It has played a unique role in promoting communication and interaction between Chinese enterprises and the foreign economic and trade community, and building a multi-level trade and investment cooperation network.
Million Roundtable was founded in 1927 and has over 72000 members in the financial services industry worldwide, with over 500 companies in 70 countries, making it a benchmark organization in the global life insurance industry. At the "Million Round Table China Day" event, attending experts pointed out that although the demand for commercial pension insurance in China is constantly increasing, compared with developed countries, China's life insurance market is still in the early stage of development, and the depth and density of insurance are still at a relatively low level. To change this situation, the high-quality transformation of life insurance agents is crucial.
Greg Gagne, the 2024 President of Million Roundtable, who came specifically to Shanghai to attend the conference, stated that setting up an office in Shanghai can better serve MDRT members in China and contribute to cultivating first-class financial service professionals in China.
