The first large-scale hydrographic survey vessel of China's maritime system, "Haixun 08", was commissioned in Shanghai
On September 21st, the large-scale hydrographic survey vessel "Haixun 08" of the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport was officially listed as part of the East China Sea Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport in Shanghai. This marks the official launch of the largest, most advanced, and most comprehensive large-scale professional surveying ship in China's maritime system, opening a new chapter for maritime surveying and mapping forces to move towards far-reaching seas.
The "Haixun 08" vessel is designed with an unlimited navigation area, with a length of 123.6 meters, a width of 21.2 meters, a depth of 9.3 meters, a draft of 5.8 meters, and a maximum speed of 16 knots. It can safely navigate under sea conditions of level 9, drift measurement under sea conditions of level 5, and walking measurement under sea conditions of level 4. It is the first domestic hydrographic measurement vessel to adopt the concept of tranquilization design. After being put into use, it can support the maritime department to achieve high-precision and high-resolution acquisition, processing, and excavation of marine spatial geographic information data from shallow water to deep water, from water table to shallow strata, promote the full coverage of marine geographic information collection mainly based on navigation information, expand the development of maritime surveying from coastal to nearshore and ocean, and effectively improve the comprehensive navigation support capacity of China's maritime department to cope with deep-sea areas.

The person in charge of the East China Sea Navigation Support Center introduced that the sea area under China's jurisdiction is about 4.7 million square kilometers, and the unique natural conditions have laid a good foundation for the development of China's shipping industry. With the continuous deepening of the strategies of "maritime power" and "transportation power", the scale of China's marine industry is becoming increasingly large, and various maritime activities are becoming more frequent, making it one of the busiest water transportation regions in the world. The official listing of the "Hai Xun 08" vessel is of great significance for improving China's level of deep-sea surveying and mapping, enhancing the comprehensive support capacity of the maritime department in dealing with complex and special sea areas, and safeguarding national maritime rights and interests.
