Photography is my "learning note" | Shanghai Tourism Festival in my heart, tourism is a school
As a cross century tourism festival brand, Shanghai Tourism Festival has witnessed the flourishing development of urban tourism and the iterative upgrading of tourism demand from citizens and tourists over the past thirty years of development. Many wonderful moments during the festival have become beautiful memories in the hearts of those who have experienced them firsthand.
The collection of stories for the "Shanghai Tourism Festival in My Heart" jointly launched by Liberation Daily and Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has attracted a wave of nostalgia from citizens and tourists towards the Shanghai Tourism Festival. Today, let's look back on the beauty and joy of the past with this enthusiastic citizen, Mr. Wang, from his collection at the Shanghai Tourism Festival.
I am a photography enthusiast and also a travel enthusiast. It was the Shanghai Tourism Festival that made me fall in love with tourism.
In September 2005, I saw a news in the newspaper that on the evening of Saturday, September 17th, the Shanghai Tourism Festival would hold its opening parade on Huaihai Road. That evening, I brought my camera and arrived early at the roadside of Huaihai to wait.
19: At the opening of the tourism festival, the grand parade officially began. I saw colorful floats passing by in front of me, and domestic and foreign performance teams singing and dancing past me, full of infectious power. I kept pressing the shutter button and captured these touching, joyful, and unforgettable scenes one by one. The next day, my photography was used by Oriental Online.

After the opening of the 2006 Shanghai Tourism Festival, I watched and filmed the performances of the Japanese and Korean performance teams in the Oriental Pearl TV Tower TV Tower, which attracted many tourists from home and abroad. These two performance teams are both from the opening parade of the tourism festival the day before. The work "Dance of the Wind" that I shot with this theme was selected for the 2007 Shanghai Municipal Political Consultative Conference Photography Exhibition.

There are many themes to watch and shoot at the Shanghai Tourism Festival, and I have gradually grown into a fan of the festival. On September 11, 2011, I came to Jiuzi Park in Huangpu District to watch and film the Jiuzi Competition participated by the Russian performance team and Shanghai citizens. The Jiuzi Competition is also one of the series of activities of the Shanghai Tourism Festival.
What's even more rare is that this competition showcases the games of pulling willows, setting circles, jumping tendons, playing marbles, building houses, drawing twigs, rolling wheels, topping nuclei, and twisting knots in the old alleys of Shanghai to both Chinese and foreign tourists. First time visitors find them novel, while nostalgic ones are filled with emotions and are very thoughtful.

On September 14th, 2015, during the Shanghai Tourism Festival, I visited the "Nanjing Road Joy Tour" held in Huangpu District and filmed performances by performance groups from Canada, the United States, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Latvia. The photography work "Nanjing Road Joy Tour" was later selected for the 2019 Shanghai Municipal Government Retired Cadres Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China Photography Exhibition.

After retiring in 2012, I have been traveling with my wife every year. In the past 10 years, we have traveled all provinces, autonomous regions and cities except Xizang. Sometimes it's still a self driving trip, with the northernmost self driving to Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia and the southernmost self driving to Beihai in Guangxi. Over the past 10 years, we have also traveled to more than 10 countries.
I have never traveled just to see the scenery or take photos as a souvenir, but to see travel as a good opportunity for on-site exploration. Before each departure, I carefully do my homework, consult relevant materials, understand the history, current situation, characteristics, and related knowledge of tourist destinations and attractions. After arriving at the tourist area, I will carefully examine the style, characteristics, and details of each attraction, and choose representative scenes to take photos. After each trip, I will carefully organize the photos I take and review relevant materials again to write a travel diary with illustrations and text. Over the years, I have published thousands of travelogues on websites such as Dongfang.com and Meipian.
This process has also brought me significant gains every time I travel. For example, by visiting revolutionary holy sites such as Ruijin, Zunyi, and Yan'an, I have gained a deeper understanding and firsthand experience of the historical process and great significance of the Chinese revolution led by the Party; For example, by visiting various world heritage sites, I have learned a lot about history, geology, water conservancy, architecture, sculpture, religion, customs, and other aspects, greatly expanding my knowledge.
Dong Qichang of the Ming Dynasty once said, "Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles.". I have come to realize from my travels over the years that traveling not only makes life more fulfilling and joyful, but more importantly, traveling is like a school, which broadens my horizons, increases my knowledge, and cultivates my character. The tens of thousands of images I have captured during my travels over the years are my "study notes" and precious treasures in my life.
Thank you to the Shanghai Tourism Festival for inspiring me, and thank you to this era for providing infinite possibilities for the people to pursue a better life.
