Eager to spread Chinese experience, American experts came to Shanghai to attend seminar
On June 18, the "2024 Zero Emission Trans-Pacific Container Shipping Regional Seminar" co-organized by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Alliance and the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission was held in Shanghai.
The trans-Pacific shipping route is one of the busiest trade routes in the world. In September 2023, the world's first trans-Pacific green shipping corridor, the Outline of the Implementation Plan for the Shanghai-Los Angeles Green Shipping Corridor, was officially released at the North Bund International Shipping Forum. According to the Outline of the Implementation Plan, from 2025, shipping company partners will deploy ships with full-lifecycle low-carbon or full-lifecycle zero-carbon emission capabilities in the corridor; by 2030, the feasibility of the world's first full-lifecycle zero-carbon emission container ship will be demonstrated on the corridor.
On the same day, the delegates discussed the obstacles that need to be overcome to achieve zero-emission container shipping in the Pacific Ocean, and discussed the friendly cooperation between green ports in the future. The delegates hope to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation between cities and ports, introduce international practices and spread China's successful experience.
