Recently, a hundred meter domestically produced large fiber bundle carbon fiber rope made of 48K large fiber bundles developed and produced by Shanghai Petrochemical has been successfully applied in the gas film structure sand and gravel yard of the China Construction Eighth Bureau Deep Expressway Project. This is the first application of carbon fiber composite materials in the air supported membrane structure cable network system, and it is also the longest carbon fiber reinforcement cable used in the field of civil engineering in China so far.
The 48K large tow carbon fiber reinforcement produced by Shanghai Petrochemical can be continuously produced and rolled due to the advantages of the extrusion molding process, thereby meeting the production and application requirements of different products for manufacturers in the later stage. The total length of the single cable made in this engineering project is 92 meters, weighing about 65 kilograms, which is about 80% lighter than ordinary steel cables. At the same time, it can significantly reduce construction difficulty, effectively save the use of large construction lifting machinery, and achieve efficient installation.
The successful application of carbon fiber composite materials in the air supported membrane structure cable network system fully demonstrates the unique technical advantages of carbon fiber reinforcement cables, expanding new scenarios for the application of carbon fiber composite materials in the field of building structures.
