Recently, "The Logic and Origin of Chinese Modernization—The First 'Shanghai Observation from a Global Perspective' Academic Symposium" was held at the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University. Researcher Zhou Wu, deputy director of the Institute of World China Studies at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that Shanghai was a window for modern China to communicate with the world and was the leader and forerunner of China's modernization development. After Shanghai opened as a port, a lot of modern knowledge and ideas were introduced to Shanghai from the West, and then radiated from Shanghai to the whole country. Because of this, Shanghai's urban modernity development is closely linked to China's modernization process. In the research field of world China studies, Shanghai has attracted the most attention from international academic circles, and "Shanghai studies" has also become the most international academic field in Chinese urban studies.
Professor Guo Shuyong, chief expert of the “Research on Xi Jinping’s Diplomatic Thought”, a major project of the National Social Science Fund and dean of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Shanghai International Studies University, believes that an international perspective has always been a key to understanding the sinicization of Marxism. To grasp the rich connotation of the Sinicization of Marxism in the new era, we must conduct in-depth research on the re-globalization, re-internationalization and re-epoch-making issues of Sinicized Marxism.
