We will enter the track laying stage, and the longest span of the Shanghai Suzhou Lake Railway will be completed by the combination of suspended and grouted beams
On July 31, 2023, the suspension beam of the Shanghai Suzhou Lake Railway, constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau and spanning the Taipu River, was completed, marking a major breakthrough in the integrated infrastructure project of the Yangtze River Delta and laying a solid foundation for the timely laying of tracks along the entire line.
The Qingpu Extra Large Bridge of the Shanghai Suzhou Lake Railway spans the Taipu River with a total length of 449.5 meters, making it the longest span of the suspension beam on the entire line. Its large span ranks among the top in China and is a key control engineering project for the entire line.
According to Dong Zepeng, the on-site person in charge of China Railway 14th Bureau, the main beam of the suspended cast-in-place beam is a "double box room" structure, which is constructed using the hanging basket method for cantilever pouring. As a backbone line in the intercity rail transit network of the Yangtze River Delta, the completion of the Shanghai Suzhou Lake Railway will significantly shorten the spatial and temporal distance of cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, improve the regional road network layout, effectively relieve the pressure on the Shanghai Nanjing and Shanghai Hangzhou railway channels, and is of great significance for promoting economic and social development along the line and accelerating the integration process of the Yangtze River Delta.
