"Awakening and shocking the world", follow the General Secretary to explore Chinese civilization | "Sleeping for three thousand years
On the south bank of the Yazi River northwest of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, there are thousands of bronze, jade, and ivory artifacts buried in an area of about 12 square kilometers... This is the Sanxingdui site, which represents the appearance and development level of the ancient Shu civilization thousands of years ago. It is the capital site with the richest cultural connotations and the largest area in the Yangtze River Basin of the same period.
In July 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the new Sanxingdui Museum and visited the "Century Dream", "Majestic Royal Capital", "Heaven, Earth, Man and God" and other exhibitions to learn about the excavation process of the Sanxingdui site and the achievements of the ancient Shu civilization. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that the archaeological achievements of the Sanxingdui site are well-known in the world, showing the achievements of civilization more than 4,000 years ago, and providing more powerful archaeological evidence for the diversity and unity of Chinese civilization and the mutual influence between the ancient Shu civilization and the Central Plains civilization.
From the first discovery to the present, Sanxingdui archaeology has gone through nearly a century. Faced with the accumulation of gold and jade and the increasing number of excavation results of the ancient Shu civilization, the unearthed cultural relics of the Sanxingdui site have entered the stage of protection and restoration. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that the protection and restoration of cultural relics is a long-term task. We must increase national support, strengthen the construction of talent teams, carry forward the rigorous and meticulous craftsmanship spirit, do it one by one, work hard for a long time, and make greater achievements.
In the hands of generations of archaeologists, the sacred tree, bronze vertical-eyed masks, bronze bird-footed statues, and other artifacts that were once covered in dust have regained their original brilliance. With the completion and commissioning of the new Sanxingdui Museum, culture and technology are fully integrated here.
At present, the excavated area of Sanxingdui ruins only accounts for about 0.2% of the total area of the ruins. A lot of restoration work is still going on. The palace area and royal tombs need further exploration. More stories about Sanxingdui civilization will be revealed one by one in the near future...
