Yangpu creates a modern industrial system dominated by the digital economy, builds an innovative ecology, and renews spatial carriers

Xue Kan, secretary of the Yangpu District Committee, introduced the situation of Yangpu District and answered questions from the media.
At the first stop of the interview, the technology development and application of 3D printing, low-altitude economy, energy-saving recycling, drone football and other aspects displayed by Yangpu District companies such as Fuzhi Technology, Meituan, Aihuihui, and Zhifei Aviation attracted the attention of foreign media. A spherical drone can actually fight in the football field. This recently emerging drone football sport surprised Moroccan reporter Ayoub Bechrouri: "Common drone technology is often used for video or photo shooting, but Yangpu companies have developed and applied it to the field of sports. Such innovative ideas to expand the application of technology to different industrial fields are worth learning."
In recent years, Yangpu has insisted on innovation-driven development, and the contribution and proportion of scientific and technological innovation in the entire economic structure are constantly increasing. Xue Kan said that innovative industries led by the digital economy are constantly growing and developing, becoming a major contributor to the economy.
Yangpu has more than 10 well-known universities such as Fudan University and Tongji University. It has achieved integrated development through the "three-zone linkage" of university campuses, science and technology parks, and public communities, and has continuously accelerated the transformation of batches of high-level knowledge achievements into cutting-edge technologies and innovative products.
At present, there are 7 national university science parks in Yangpu area, accounting for half of the total number in Shanghai. For example, opposite the Bay Valley Science Park is the Jiangwan Campus of Fudan University. Yangpu and Fudan University jointly built the Future Valley-Wan Valley Innovation Center here, which was recently launched. The center adopts the model of "government guidance, university support, market dominance, and open operation", and is positioned to undertake the three functions of promoting the implementation of major scientific and technological projects, promoting the transformation and implementation of scientific and technological achievements, and promoting the agglomeration and development of industrial projects.
The first batch of project teams have signed contracts and moved in, including many representative high-quality scientific research results in science, engineering, medicine, etc. For example, the vertical field large model construction project based on fusion knowledge AIGC is dedicated to digital image intelligent processing, video analysis and understanding, three-dimensional image processing, multimodal information processing, etc., and is widely used in the field of digital media processing.
In addition, Yangpu is making every effort to build an innovative ecosystem. For example, the Shanghai Technology Exchange, which is located in the Bay Valley Science Park, has accumulated a total transaction amount of more than 39.5 billion yuan in more than three years since its opening, with a total of 3,785 projects and 10,200 achievements, and intellectual property pledge financing exceeding 7 billion yuan. Yan Mingfeng, president of the Shanghai Technology Exchange, introduced that the overall transactions of the Technology Exchange are concentrated in strategic emerging industries such as new generation information technology, biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, and new materials, and the trading areas are spread all over the world; the top ten transactions are currently concentrated in East China University of Science and Technology, Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Fudan University, and the First Municipal Hospital. Xue Kan said that Yangpu vigorously cultivates and supports such platforms so that more innovative entities can enjoy and use them well.
At present, Yangpu is building a "1234" innovative modern industrial system with digital economy as the core. Ye Guifang, deputy director of the Yangpu District Science and Technology Committee, said that there are currently more than 7,000 digital economy companies in the district, which has gathered a number of digital economy platform companies such as Meituan, bilibili, and Xiaohongshu. Yangpu also actively coordinates various resources to help companies develop, supports Meituan to open the first drone route in the central urban area of Shanghai, and supports the company to expand the application scenarios of drone services, providing companies with valuable and urgently needed new application scenarios; supports Fuzhi Information to develop professional-grade 3D printing technology, provide personalized solutions for the medical and industrial fields, and help companies cultivate new technologies.
At present, Yangpu's digital economy industry is distributed in many parks such as Dachuangzhi, Bay Valley, Changyang Chuanggu, and Internet Baodi. In the near future, more companies will gather in Yangpu Riverside. During the interview, the reporter saw many industrial-style and old buildings with a sense of age in Yangpu Riverside, and also saw one after another busy construction sites, which will become the space carriers of cutting-edge industrial enterprises in the future.
Yangpu Riverside is one of the birthplaces of China's modern industrial civilization. It has created many of China's "centennial industries". It has China's first modern water plant, the largest thermal power plant in the Far East, China's earliest gas heating plant, the largest soap factory in the Far East, China's first government-supervised and privately-run papermaking bureau, the country's largest power station auxiliary equipment factory, etc. It is an important historical witness to the industrial renaissance.
In recent years, Yangpu District has attached great importance to the scientific protection and utilization of cultural relics and buildings, and promoted the large-scale transformation of industrial heritage, so that they can "restore their appearance, reshape their functions, and revalue them", and be reborn in the contemporary era, and have been rated as the first batch of national cultural relics protection and utilization demonstration areas. Qian Liang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Yangpu Riverside Investment and Development Co., Ltd., introduced that Yangpu should not only transform the "industrial rust belt" into a "life show belt", but also transform into a "development embroidery belt" to achieve the "three-life integration" of production, life and ecology.
"Under the guidance of the people's city concept, we will fully consider the inheritance of history and the people's sense of gain, promote the transformation of urban development methods, achieve spatial transformation with the goal of converting new and old kinetic energy, and make new space for future industries," said Qian Liang.
According to the plan, by 2026, the southern section of Yangpu Riverside will have 2.7 million square meters of commercial and office space put into use, gathering 270,000 innovative and entrepreneurial talents. At present, more than 300 leading factories, commercial brands and life complexes settled in Yangpu Riverside have entered the comprehensive construction stage and will be fully completed and put into use in the next two years. Reporters learned that at the end of May this year, the Shanghai headquarters of China Communications Construction Group will be accepted and is expected to be completed and delivered in June; the first Shanghai building of China Energy Conservation will be completed by the end of this year; in 2025, Meituan Shanghai Technology Center is expected to be completed by the end of the year; in 2026, Bilibili Global Headquarters and Yangpu Riverside Innovation Center will also be completed.
The French Le Cordon Bleu International, which the Chinese and foreign media reporters visited this time, was recently introduced, and its exhibition center is set up in one of the industrial heritage buildings. The company's Western cooking skills and training are very popular in Shanghai, and many foreign media reporters are very interested in it. At the dialogue meeting on June 14, they asked Xue Kan about the possibility of foreign small and medium-sized enterprises with special features to develop in Yangpu. In this regard, Xue Kan said that there are many opportunities and the market is huge. "In terms of foreign cooperation, there are so many emerging markets and opportunities, we will not miss them."
In recent years, Yangpu has unswervingly promoted foreign cooperation and exchanges, and actively developed new friends. Nike previously built its first sports research laboratory outside its North American headquarters in Yangpu, aiming to develop and launch more innovative and futuristic new products and experiences, and to bring more innovative and creative achievements from China and Shanghai to the global market. German multinational company Henkel recently invested nearly 100 million yuan to build a consumer product research and development center in Yangpu, and is firmly optimistic about the Chinese consumer product market. Siemens invested against the trend in 2022 and expanded its factoring business in Yangpu. Yangpu has also worked with Laos, Brazil and other countries to build platform windows such as the Lao National Economic and Trade Cooperation Exhibition Hall and the Brazilian Investment Promotion Center.
