The emblem, theme slogan and anthem were released, and the countdown to the 2024 Shanghai Student Games has reached 100 days.
The "Leaping Youth into the Future - 100-Day Countdown Kick-off Ceremony for the 2024 Shanghai Student Games" was held at the Shanghai Education Hall on June 14, marking the start of the quadrennial Shanghai Student Games.
The purpose of holding this Shanghai Student Games is to fully implement the spirit of relevant national and municipal documents such as the "Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving School Sports in the New Era" and the "Shanghai Action Plan to Promote High-Quality Development of Sports in Primary and Secondary Schools and Further Improve Students' Physical Health Levels", continue to deepen the integration of sports and education, deeply promote the reform and development of school sports in the city, further play the role of events in promoting the physical and mental health development of young people, and help cultivate outstanding sports reserve talents.
This Shanghai Student Games will be held from September to December 2024. It will be divided into three groups: colleges and universities, districts and secondary vocational schools, and will have two units: competition and activities. The competition unit will have 73 major events involving 105 competition items. The activity unit will have Sunshine Sports League, a series of physical health special competitions, a series of theme activities on the vibrant campus, and campus sports and cultural exchanges. It is the highest-level comprehensive student games in the city.
In March this year, the organizing committee launched a campaign to collect the emblem and theme slogan for teachers and students across the city, and received more than 280 entries. After review, 16 entries were shortlisted and 2 entries were awarded. Based on the creativity of the selected entries, the organizing committee designed the overall sports meeting. At the launching ceremony, the emblem, theme slogan, medals and anthem of the student sports meeting were officially released, and the atmosphere reached a climax in the energetic singing.
Wang Hao, deputy director of the Municipal Education Commission, pointed out that in the coming period, he hoped that all delegations would organize and register in an orderly manner under the unified deployment of the organizing committee and strengthen scientific training and guarantee. We should take this Games as an opportunity to continue to deepen the reform and development of school sports, improve the event system, and give full play to the educational value of events. We should strictly enforce the style and discipline of the games, strengthen anti-doping publicity and education, and educate and guide students to respect opponents, referees, and spectators, and participate in the games in a civilized manner and compete fairly.
In order to ensure that the Games are held smoothly and orderly and the results are fair and just, on the basis of further strengthening the standardized management of the event, the organizing committee also invited Yao Songping and Guo Bei, who served as supervisory experts of the Shanghai delegation to the first National Student Games, to serve as event experts to guide the organization of the Games.
