The pine wind landscapes painted by this doctor have a "healing" power. He has been painting for thirty years
From October 28th to 31st, painter Yu Xuebo's solo exhibition "Homeland on the Sea" was held at Shanghai Duoyun Art Museum.
Yu Xuebo is a painter and a doctor at Oriental Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital. He graduated from the Third Military Medical University and has been fond of painting since he was a child. He has held many art exhibitions and published collections of his works.
Yu Xuebo, who claims to have "grew up sleeping in the pine breeze", has a special feeling for the pine breeze. He loves painting landscapes and pines, especially the landscapes around Nvshan Lake in his hometown of Chuzhou. "He kept thinking about Nvshan Lake in his hometown, with its green grass, vast autumn water, fishing boats singing in the evening, and vast hectares of lotus flowers. It was the home of his heart and the origin of his paintings." Curator of this exhibition, said Hu Jianjun, associate professor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University.
Yu Xuebo, who is engaged in clinical medicine, has been traveling in the world of traditional Chinese painting for nearly thirty years. His landscape painter imitates the brushstrokes of the famous masters of the Song and Yuan Dynasties and the four monks of the early Qing Dynasty, and has both the reason of a doctor and the emotion of an artist. Academician Wu Mengchao once wrote inscriptions for him: "Qiuyuan Cultivates Quality" and "Traveling Medicine and Art".
In addition to painting, Yu Xuebo also loves reading. Reading from pre-Qin literary theory to Ming and Qing sketches is like entering an ancient temple in the mountains. All the way down, you can only worship devoutly.
In the eyes of his friends, his paintings, writings and people are like those of the ancients. However, his art does not seek the ancients, but the ancient meanings still remain. He also carved a Fang Xian seal for himself: "People are at leisure and their hearts are at peace." When reading and painting, I stay away from the hustle and bustle.
In Hu Jianjun's opinion, what Yu Xuebo painted is the eternal peach blossom garden in his heart. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, his small world of calligraphy and painting is "indifferent and lonely, unparalleled in the world", which is the continuation of his hometown complex and the ideals of the "Book of Songs" on paper.
What Yu Xuebo painted most was the landscape of his hometown. A series of works that are plain and innocent yet exquisitely crafted. He painted them with light green and green colors with respect and joy, giving them a natural old-fashioned feel. His works describing Nushan Lake may not necessarily depict specific people, or only a few fishing boats, but they make people feel like they hear their voices, see their people, and feel like they are there.
Talking about his future creative plans, Yu Xuebo said that he might paint more pictures of Mount Huang. The great painter Shi Tao regarded Huangshan as his confidant and wrote about it in his dream. He once praised the painter Jian Jiang: "I have traveled to Huangshan for the longest time, so I can understand the true nature of Huangshan. That is, every tree and stone is the true color of Huangshan." Seek wonder in change, Deshan's true temperament is exactly the realm that Yu Xuebo yearns for.
