Today, the new achievement press conference and exhibition of the China Folk Literature Series Publishing Project series, organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Office of the Leading Group for the China Folk Literature Series Publishing Project, was held in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the China Literature and Art Home.

At the same time, this press conference will hold a achievements exhibition, focusing on the latest achievements of the major publishing projects. The main theme is to adhere to the creative transformation and innovative development of folk culture, with the theme of "New Era, New Journey, New Achievements, and New Starting Point". The main content will be the publication of 62 volumes of books in the "Chinese Folk Literature Series" library, social publicity and promotion activities, and the display experience of basic information database application platforms. The exhibition will showcase the new experiences and achievements of large-scale data collection, text material organization, compilation and publishing, research and utilization, and social promotion of folk literature carried out by the major publishing projects.

"Da Series" books that showcase ethnic and folk culture

The construction of the library for the Da Series is the main content of the Da Series publishing project. The 62 volume "Da Series" book has been published, covering 12 categories including myths, epics, folk legends, folk stories, folk songs, folk long poems, folk rap, folk plays, proverbs, riddles, proverbs, and folk literature theory. It comes from 23 provinces including Henan, Hebei, Hunan, Hubei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Yunnan, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Fujian, Jiangxi, Anhui, Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Guangdong, Chongqing, Guangxi, Hainan, etc.

The works collected in the "Da Shi" library are selected according to the "four principles" of scientificity, universality, regionalism, and representativeness. Based on field surveys, written records, image shooting, audio and video collection, and extensive historical research, they are based on regional characteristics, highlighting the diversity of ethnic and folk cultures, and depicting contemporary folk daily life. They present the historical style and new era humanistic spirit of folk literature in a multi-dimensional, multi-directional, all-round, and landscape manner.

The database has included 15956 volumes of folk literature materials

Improving and expanding the database system of the major publishing engineering is the fundamental work for compiling the text of the major series. At the same time as carrying out the compilation work of the "Da Series" book library, the China Association for the Betterment and Progress of the Communist Party of China extensively mobilizes and unites folk literary and artistic workers across the country, actively carries out the collection and organization of oral folk literature works and original theoretical research literature, continuously enriches and improves the basic information database of the "Da Series" publishing project, strives to achieve online promotion and knowledge popularization of folk literature, and realizes resource sharing and dissemination and utilization on a larger scale. The basic data database of major publishing engineering has been constructed in Phase III, and as of June 30, 2023, it has accumulated 15956 volumes and completed digital storage of 1.638 billion words.

The Da Shi Publishing Engineering Database website is a network application platform that promotes the digitization and socialization of folk literature resources. It is an important link in promoting cultural sharing and social utilization of the folk literature photocopies, oil prints, handwritten copies, and first-hand graphic and textual materials collected by the China Association for the Betterment and Progress of the People over the past 70 years. At present, the first phase of the database website construction has been completed, and Mr. Feng Jicai, Honorary Chairman of the China Association for the Betterment and Progress of the People, has been specially invited to write the words "China Folk Literature Series Publishing Project", complete the website domain name registration, network security and other related procedures. The second phase of construction is about to officially start. On the basis of completing the website structure layout design, the second phase of website construction will input audio and video materials from past years of folk literature field surveys conducted by the China Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of the People's Republic of China and various regional associations, to achieve real-time and smooth integration with the progress of website and database work, publication progress of "Da Shi", and website usage. At the same time, it will be compatible with functions such as news reporting on major publishing projects, data downloading, and big data carrying.

Cross regional and multi-ethnic organization exchange activities

Social propaganda and promotion activities are important measures to achieve social benefits in the new era of large-scale publishing projects, promote creative transformation and innovative development of folk literature. The Office of the Leading Group for Major Series Publishing Projects and the China Association for the Betterment and Progress of the People's Republic of China, in accordance with the requirements of the Cultural and Artistic Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, selects folk art resources with strong ethnic styles, distinct regional characteristics, and a good mass foundation every year. Cross regional and multi-ethnic organizations carry out various forms of social propaganda and promotion activities with excellent folk literature as the theme, such as exhibitions, academic discussions, and field investigations. They plan and organize the compilation of a series of social popularization readings for major series publishing projects, and promote excellent traditional folk culture through multiple regions and channels.

Such as the Qinghai "Gesar" Epic Series Activities, Hu Renwuliger Conference Series Activities, the First Folk Love Song Conference, Zhuang Language Song Conference, Jiangnan Folk Play Exchange Conference, Northern Folk Rap Exchange Conference, Lvjiahe Folk Song Conference, Northern Folk Song Nadam and Northern Folk Song Ecological Protection and Transmission Symposium, "Hexi Baojuan" Folk Rap Field Investigation, Traditional "Errentai" and Folk "Errentuan" Small Play Research and Exchange Exhibition, Research on the Folk Transmission Status of "Shaanbei Folk Songs" and "Errentai" in Western Inner Mongolia, Western Minority Epic and Praise Conference, Tea Horse Ancient Road Folk Song Exhibition and Performance Over 40 types of activities, including special exchange forums for inheritors and expert themed academic seminars. The Publishing Project of Chinese Folk Literature Department is one of the fifteen key projects in the "Opinions on Implementing the Project of Inheriting and Developing Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture" issued by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council on January 24, 2017. In April 2021, the major publishing project was included in the 14th Five Year Plan for the Inheritance and Development of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture by the Central Propaganda Department. In August 2022, the major publishing project was included in the "14th Five Year Plan for Cultural Development" of the Central and State Offices, and was designated as a folk art inheritance project to promote rural cultural construction.
