Don't take it! , many people in Shanghai have already received it? Urgent reminder, 100,000 copies of hairy crabs are being distributed for free
Recently, the "pie in the world" scam has been upgraded: the Shanghai Rumor Refuting Platform received a number of messages from fans at the backend, saying that they had received a "hairy crab delivery card", which felt very similar to the previous "free gift" scam, and hoped that the platform Further verification.
After verification, this "hairy crab delivery card" is indeed the bait for a cashback trap. If the public believes it to be true, not only will they not receive hairy crabs, but they will also be led into the scam step by step.
The styles of pickup cards received by citizens are not exactly the same, but they are usually called "Golden Autumn Crab Gifts" and indicate that they need to add customer service WeChat before they can withdraw them.
The pickup card styles are different, but they all require scanning the QR code to add customer service for pickup.
The "crab gift" also comes with a "Letter to Distinguished Customers", claiming that the pickup card is presented by Tmall and is worth about 500 yuan, with a total of 100,000 copies. For the purpose of giving back to customers, it will be distributed across the entire network.
The letter sent together stated that the pickup card was presented by Tmall.
The reporter consulted with Tmall customer service staff and learned that the platform had not held any gift-giving activities and was reminded not to scan QR codes of unknown origin.
After scanning the relevant QR code, it was found that all the QR codes for pickup cards provided by fans have been blocked by WeChat. After scanning, a warning appeared saying "The webpage contains malicious and fraudulent content and has been complained by many people. In order to maintain a green Internet environment, access has been stopped."
However, the "online customer service" chat record provided by Ms. Wang who scanned the QR code and added the "online customer service" for picking up crabs shows that the "crab picker" needs to provide personal information such as mobile phone number and delivery address. The "crab picker" was also asked to join another activity group to "pay attention to the delivery progress", and reminded that "there are more welfare activities in the group, and red envelopes will be distributed", etc.
Ms. Wang said that she was originally suspicious of crab cards. When she saw this, she immediately chose to report: "This routine is exactly the same as the previous method of giving water cups, mobile phone holders, and paper towels to deceive people into joining the group to make orders."
Combing through the "withdrawal" and "group entry" information of the "hairy crab delivery card", it is not difficult to find that this is indeed an upgraded version of the fraud scam.
As far as the scam itself is concerned, its core is nothing more than using words such as "high salary" and "earning money" to induce the victim to lose big for a small amount: at first, the fraudster requires the victim to complete the "part-time job fraud" task in a social group , and gain the victim's trust with a small rebate; then, the fraudsters will create the illusion that "the greater the investment, the higher the rebate" and induce the victim to go to illegal websites or apps to complete "big tasks", at which time a large amount of recharge is required After the victim recharges, not only will he not get the rebate, but even the principal will be defrauded.
In recent years, with the crackdowns from all parties and the increasing public vigilance, the fraud scam has been "escalated" repeatedly. The current hairy crab delivery card can be called version 3.0——
In version 1.0, criminals often use the banner of "easy part-time job" to publish false part-time job information through short videos, forums, circle groups and other channels to identify target groups.
After the false part-time job information was discovered, criminals began to use "pie in the world" as bait and upgraded the scam to version 2.0. Through the black and gray industry, they obtained the public's personal information such as addresses, and sent out "three noes" products such as mobile phone holders, paper towels, and tea cups, under the banner of "giving back gifts" to defraud people's trust. Potential victims who fail to identify these baits will be lured to "activity groups" and fraud-specific apps and websites.
Now, this scam has "evolved" to version 3.0: as the public no longer believes in "small gifts" of unknown origin, the "small gifts" have become seasonal products, including mooncakes, hairy crabs, etc., and the givers of well-known platforms and other fake information.
Compared with the scams of versions 1.0 and 2.0, the scam of version 3.0 is more confusing. Many citizens said: “Friends will send gifts to each other, and I almost believed them.” “I have been shopping online, and when I saw the thank-you letter, I thought it was real.” “I am worried that the elderly at home will not understand the situation and think it is a gift from a junior.”… …Because of this, some fans on the Shanghai Rumor Refuting Platform expressed their hope for clarification as soon as possible and to remind relatives and friends to be more vigilant.
As of press time, the Shanghai Rumor Refuting Platform has discovered that in addition to hairy crab delivery cards claiming to be from Tmall, consumers in other provinces and cities have also received delivery cards claiming to be from other e-commerce platforms such as JD.com, which are all called "thank customers." However, the customer service staff of the relevant platforms all made it clear that the platform did not hold the above activities and the so-called gifts were all fake.
Some netizens received a pickup card claiming to be from JD.com. After verification, it was also fake.
At the same time, police in many places including the Shanghai Public Security Bureau also issued reminders that the "hairy crab delivery card" is a scam bait and the public should not believe it.
