The scale of newly added new energy connected to the grid ranks second in the country, and Xinjiang has made three major contributions to oil, gas and coal.
Xinjiang has a vast territory and rich resources. It is known as "the mountains are rich in gold, copper and iron, and the basins are rich in coal, oil and gas." Erken Tuniyaz, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and chairman of the autonomous region, said at a series of press conferences on the theme of "Promoting High-Quality Development" held by the State Council Information Office today that Xinjiang is accelerating the construction of new power systems and increasing oil and gas reserves. Increase production, clean and efficient utilization of coal, and explore, develop and utilize mineral resources, and actively build a national energy resources strategic support base to provide important energy resource support for promoting Chinese-style modernization.
Erken Tuniyaz pointed out that we must first consolidate and improve advantageous industries and do a good job in the three major areas of oil, gas and coal. Xinjiang’s oil and gas production equivalent has ranked first in the country for three consecutive years, and Asia’s first 10,000-meter vertical well was drilled in the Tarim Oilfield. Coal-to-natural gas production capacity accounts for 45% of the country's total, and the world's first direct liquefaction coal-to-liquid project has been launched in Hami. "Oilfield production from coalfields" is gradually being realized. "We will continue to extend the industrial chain downwards to maximize the effectiveness of every piece of coal, every drop of oil, and every square meter of gas."
In addition to traditional energy, Xinjiang is also cultivating and expanding emerging industries and opening up new tracks for clean energy. Xinjiang’s total wind and solar energy resources rank among the top in the country. In recent years, Xinjiang has comprehensively laid out the wind and solar industry chain. Last year, solar and wind power generation accounted for 4.6% and 7.3% of the country respectively, and the scale of new new energy grid connections ranked second in the country. The vast Gobi desert in the past has become a "feng shui treasure land" for the development of new energy and other industries today.
Erken Tuniyaz said that based on the existing foundation, Xinjiang will accelerate the construction of clean energy bases such as wind power and photovoltaics, continue to promote the large-scale and intensive development of new material industries such as silicon-based and aluminum-based, and vigorously build new electric power system to achieve coordinated development of photovoltaic "blue", desert "yellow" and ecological "green".
In addition, Xinjiang is also making every effort to promote industrial base strengthening, efficiency improvement, transformation and upgrading. Last year, Xinjiang held a conference on industrial green development and released the "Hundred Major Low-Carbon Technologies in Key Industrial Areas". More and more low-carbon and zero-carbon factories have sprung up. As green production in the manufacturing industry continues to advance, the traditional image of Xinjiang’s industrial structure as “dark and heavy” is gradually drifting away.
Erken Tuniyaz pointed out that in the future, Xinjiang will accelerate digital and intelligent transformation, vigorously support enterprises to introduce new technologies and new models, promote equipment updates and process upgrades, and continuously improve the "gold content" and "green content" of the manufacturing industry. " and "intelligence", making Xinjiang's contribution to ensuring the security of my country's energy resources and important industrial and supply chains.
