With the high temperature in recent days, beware of the hidden risks of the popular "cooling tools"
Beijing is experiencing high temperatures again today, and many people's cars have become "saunas" after being exposed to the sun, so some people have used the popular "cooling artifact" on the Internet - a spray can cool down the steering wheel and car seat in seconds, and some people spray it directly on clothes and skin to cool down. However, professionals remind that there are many potential risks when using such cooling products.
When searching for "cooling spray" on e-commerce platforms, a wide variety of related products will appear. Among them, several cooling sprays compressed in metal cans are hot-selling. The sales volume of some products on the entire network is more than 60,000 pieces. The price of a bottle of cooling spray ranges from a few yuan to dozens of yuan.
In the product details of a cooling spray with a total sales volume of more than 50,000 units, there are slogans such as "Cool down in 1 second, spray until frozen in 10 seconds" and "Spray wherever you want". The product can be used on the vehicle steering wheel, seat, backrest, headrest, as well as cooling with a towel and ice compress, spraying the skin 30 cm away. The product instructions also include tips such as not to use open flames after spraying and not to place it in the car. However, the safety hazards behind the "Internet celebrity" cooling spray cannot be ignored. Qi Xinglong, deputy chief of the Tongzhou District Fire Rescue Brigade, said that the principle of this type of spray is to store gas in a metal tank through high-pressure liquefaction. After being sprayed, the liquefied gas quickly vaporizes and absorbs the surrounding heat to achieve a rapid cooling effect.
"It is very dangerous to leave cooling spray in the car for a long time." Qi Xinglong reminded that in summer, when a vehicle is exposed to the sun, the temperature of the car surface and dashboard can reach 70 or 80 degrees. The butane, propane and other ingredients in the cooling spray are flammable and explosive. If such items are left in the car for a long time, when the temperature is too high, the gas in the bottle will expand rapidly and may cause an explosion. In addition, it is not recommended to use such cooling spray in a closed environment, and it is necessary to avoid contact with open flames when spraying. Some people use cooling spray to cool their bodies. Qi Xinglong reminded that if it is sprayed on the skin for a long time and in large quantities, it may cause frostbite.
Qi Xinglong introduced that in addition to pressurized spray cans, there are many items that should not be stored in the car when the sun is exposed in the summer. For example, mineral water bottles, reading glasses and other items with convex lens effects may concentrate light and generate heat, igniting combustible materials in the car; toilet water, perfume, etc. will produce flammable gases after evaporation; power banks, tablets, computers and other electronic products, batteries are prone to bulging, explosion, etc. under high temperatures.
