The new Puxi section of Shanghai's expressway opens to traffic today
The G1503 Expressway in the Puxi section of the Yangtze River Channel and the newly constructed section of the Tongji Elevated Road were officially opened to traffic today. The Puxi section of the riverside channel is located in Baoshan District, starting from Mudanjiang Road in the east and ending at Fuchang Road in the west, with a total length of 7.8 kilometers. The project adopts the three-system overall plan of "G1503 Expressway Tongji Elevated Road Fujin Road Ground Road".
In November 2022, the G1503 highway section has been opened to traffic in accordance with the planned two-way six lanes. The northern half of the main line of the G1503 expressway section is not completed, and the newly built southern half of the main line is used for elevated traffic. The scale of this section is temporarily adjusted to two-way four lanes. At present, the northern half of the main line of the G1503 expressway section has been completed as planned. After being merged with the southern half, it will have two-way six-lane traffic conditions; all relevant entry and exit ramps have also been completed. At the same time, the new section of the Tongji Elevated Road has also been completed with four two-way lanes as planned, and can realize the conversion function between expressway and expressway.
After this opening to traffic, the bottleneck section of the original two-way four-lane highway will be opened, further improving the efficiency of transit vehicles. At the same time, by creating a three-system road network structure of "expressways, expressways and ground trunk roads", the rapid service capabilities for areas along the routes will be further improved, making traffic more convenient.

G1503 is a municipal expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour; Tongji Elevated Road is an urban expressway with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour; the design speed of the ramp is 40 kilometers per hour. The speed limit is enforced according to the traffic signs, and no vehicle is allowed to stop midway unless it is an emergency.
2. The G1503 Expressway maintains the original management measures unchanged. Pedestrians, non-motor vehicles, motorcycles, tractors, wheeled special mechanical vehicles, articulated buses, full-trailer tractors and "Road Traffic Safety of the People's Republic of China" are prohibited throughout the day. The passage of other vehicles as stipulated in the Law.
3. The G1503 Expressway prohibits the passage of "Shanghai C" plate passenger cars and hazardous chemical transport vehicles throughout the day. The Mudanjiang Road outer exit ramp of the G1503 Expressway is closed to trucks all day.
4. Pedestrians, non-motorized vehicles, motorcycles, special operation vehicles, vehicles with coach license plates and temporary test license plates, vehicles with temporary license plates from other provinces and cities, and vehicles carrying dangerous goods are prohibited on Tongji Elevated Road all day long. and other vehicle traffic stipulated in the "Shanghai Road Traffic Management Regulations".
