Hefei has a lake front | Chaohu | Hefei
I often have a strong nostalgia for the fields, where the beautiful scenery of the four seasons is like flipping oil paintings, imprinted deep in my mind. Truly immersing oneself in the fields begins with a sacred lake on the edge of the city, and a grassy wetland on the side of the water. In leisure time, either by car or on foot, spring outings to the grasslands, summer appreciation of the green lotus pond, autumn drinking of Huanghua wine, winter singing of white snow poetry, are always beautiful scenes in the world. Wandering by the shore of Chaohu Lake, watching the clear and fragrant microwaves, smelling the fragrance of the lake fields, searching and immersing all the longing for the land in the field breeze blowing in the face. Traveling southward from Hefei Binhu Wetland to Mawei River Wetland is because of the boundless scenery beneath our feet, allowing us to truly appreciate the endless poetry of "my love for the lake's eastward journey is not enough". The beginning of this poetic poem is the lakeside wetland, where a different "field breeze" touches the surface. The Binhu Wetland Park, known as "Anhui Xixi", has undergone years of construction and the tourism facilities in the park have become quite complete. Under rows of tall artificial forests, there are crisscrossing hiking trails. The spring water flows quietly in the canal along the road, and the number of swimming fish is countless. The banks of the ditch are blooming with colorful and beautiful flowers. Looking up, you can see the unique wooden houses scattered deep in the forest. The slope beside the wooden houses is covered with lush grass, and at the end of the grass is a winding path with thick shade. Pedestrians on the road, or couples together, or three or five companions, measure this long path with their fast and slow footsteps, and scatter the happiness and joy of the journey into the distance. During the Three Kingdoms period, this was an ancient battlefield with a strong army and iron horses. Zhuge Liang wrote in his book "A Table of Later Departures" that "Cao Cao's five attacks on Changba could not be defeated, and he could not cross Chaohu Lake four times", highlighting the tragic situation of the war. After the Battle of Red Cliffs, Cao Cao was unwilling to hibernate in the north and marched south to Chaohu to attack Sun Wu. Hundreds of thousands of troops and horses were stationed in the Shengqiao area, with the vanguard located near Baihu and extending all the way to the south bank of Chaohu. Later generations vividly referred to the vanguard's location at the mouth of the lake as "Matou Mouth" and the tail of the team as "Mawei River". In order to break through the stalemate between the two armies, Cao Cao ordered to intensify military training while excavating the Zaohe River. He also ordered the construction of a bronze drum platform, with the sound of drums as the signal for the workers. It is said that one day, when a magpie carrying a branch flew over the Tonggu Terrace, it suddenly encountered a strong wind, and the branch fell and hit the drum face. The soldiers heard the drum sound, thought it was over, and they all sat down to have dinner. Who knew that rainstorm came at this time, and the flood suddenly submerged the half lazi river bed. Cao Cao, who was suspicious by nature, thought it was God's will, so he hurried back to the north, leaving behind the "rotten tail project". Until the 1950s, Anhui Province allocated special funds to finally excavate and connect this ancient Zhaohe River, diverting the water from Tangchuan River, Shungang River, and Shengqiao River into Chaohu Lake at the mouth of Mawei River. Standing at the mouth of the Mawei River, reminiscing about the past by the lake, there is a unique interest in my heart. In recent years, Hefei has elevated the construction of the "Great Lake City" to its urban development strategy, investing heavily in the construction of the "Top Ten Wetlands Around the Lake", effectively improving the lake basin environment, enhancing the quality of the lake and mountain scenery
