A thousand miles away in southeastern Yunnan - Qiubei County, Yunnan Province, has beautiful scenery and simple folk customs. However, there is a shortage of medical resources and many people are unable to seek medical treatment locally. How can high-quality medical resources be sent to mountainous areas? Seven years ago, the North Campus of Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University signed a paired assistance agreement with the government of Qiubei County and the People's Hospital, and the Youth League Committee of Huashan Hospital launched the "Caiyun Plan" volunteer service. Volunteer service has pioneered a new model of "medical+education" assistance in Shanghai and Yunnan, from providing medical technology to supporting impoverished students and promoting science education.

After seven years, the Huashan North Hospital was reorganized and merged into Huashan Hospital, and the "Caiyun Plan" was not interrupted. During this period, medical youths from Huashan entered the mountains in batches under the organization of the Youth League Committee, bringing health and well-being to the people and igniting the academic dreams of the children in the mountains. Recently, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the "Caiyun Plan" has once again set out: young doctors lead the way, expert experts assist, and generations of Huashan doctors jointly interpret the spirit of "willing to contribute and not asking questions" of great love.

Since 2016, Huashan Hospital has sent 13 batches of 68 clinical backbone doctors to Qiubei, Yunnan to provide key assistance, effectively enhancing local medical service capabilities. These young doctors are keenly aware of the lack of not only medical technology, but also the hope and opportunity for children to step out of the mountains and change their destiny when paired up for assistance. Mao Shanhua, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee, told reporters that witnessing economic pressure limiting the educational path of Shanliwa and further hindering local development in Qiubei, the Youth League Committee has launched the "Colorful Cloud Plan" volunteer service to help students achieve their dreams and overcome poverty while assisting in medical care.

Helping a student is changing a family. Data shows that over the past seven years, this new model of "medical+education" assistance has traveled to 2 provinces, 6 counties, and 8 townships in Yunnan, raising more than 125000 yuan in donations through charity sales and fundraising, and supporting a total of 15 students in three batches who are both academically and morally outstanding but have family difficulties. Among them, 9 students who participated in the college entrance examination were all admitted to their ideal universities, and the first batch of 4 students who received funding have successfully graduated from university and found employment. Some students are sponsored to attend medical schools, some are preparing for the IELTS exam to become English teachers, and some have already worked in accounting firms... The inspiring spirit and tremendous growth transformation of students are truly touching.

Wen Wen, who has completed her university studies and found employment in Shanghai, is one of the first beneficiaries of the "Caiyun Plan". She was once a shy and naive girl with big eyes, but now she has emerged confident and generous. Wen Wen thanked her benefactor through a video, "Thank you to the uncles, aunts, brothers, and sisters of Shanghai Huashan Hospital! Thanks to you, I was able to fulfill my dream of university, step out of the mountains to see the world, contribute to society, and realize greater value in life!"

Traveling thousands of miles to fulfill the promise of assistance

Starting from small details, the "Colorful Cloud Plan" has now reached a considerable scale, with multiple experts participating and contributing their efforts. On June 30th, Professor Zhang Wenhong, the director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Huashan Hospital, and other expert doctors traveled thousands of miles to the Central Primary School in Yuezhe Town, Qiubei County, to jointly launch a new round of the "Colorful Cloud Plan" with young doctors.

Zou Hejian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huashan Hospital, said passionately at the launch site, "There are also many outstanding young employees from remote and impoverished areas in Huashan. Education has enabled them to step out of rural and mountainous areas and into higher education institutions, completely changing their own and their families' destinies. Every time we see their progress, it strengthens our determination and confidence in paired assistance."

Sending health and hope, in the central primary school of the town, each young face is filled with a thirst for knowledge. Professor Zhang Wenhong interacts with elementary school students in a friendly manner, encouraging them to improve their nutrition, strengthen exercise, and study well, so that they can step out of the mountains and go global in the future. Dr. Cao Ruiqin, the attending physician of obstetrics and gynecology, gave a lecture on adolescent health physiology titled "Love Youth, Take Care of Yourself" to a fifth grade girl; Dr. Ji Xiaoxi, the attending physician of the Sports Medicine Department, trains male students in sports emergency courses, with vivid explanations and fun games that are highly popular. Under the coordination of the 13th batch of medical teams dispatched by Huashan Hospital to aid Yunnan, Shanghai Education Press assisted the "Caiyun Plan" in donating more than 62000 books of 11 types to 122 primary schools in Qiubei County, including "A Brief History of Vaccines" and "A Brief History of Pathogens" edited by Professor Zhang Wenhong. President Miao Hongcai encouraged children to read more and immerse themselves in the ocean of knowledge through audio connections.

Assisting impoverished students from "having access to education" to "having access to good education". The reporter learned that the second batch of 5 students sponsored by the "Caiyun Plan" have been admitted to universities, with a total of 15000 yuan in prize money. The third batch of 5 students who receive funding will each receive a scholarship of 3000 yuan, and they will receive funding annually to the university to fully pay their tuition fees. The reward and scholarship are both from the Shanghai Zhou Liangfu Medical Development Foundation.

During the launch of the "Colorful Cloud Plan" to assist students and promote health education, a team led by experts from Huashan Hospital conducted medical academic assistance and exchanges simultaneously from the 30th to the 1st. "Huashan Shenwai's aid to Yunnan has a profound foundation and tradition," said Professor Zhao Yao, Dean of Hongqiao Hospital and Neurosurgery Department. "As early as 1968, Academician Zhou Liangfu led a team to aid Yunnan and won praise from local residents for his superb skills and medical ethics. In the past 30 years, the department has sent more than 20 experts to continue the 'mountain and sea situation'." The reporter learned that two years ago, Neurosurgery was awarded the 'National Advanced Collective in Poverty Alleviation'. This time, he joined hands with the Qiubei County Medical Community General Hospital to achieve comprehensive support for medical education and research, radiating higher quality services. ".

Immunotherapy has been proven to achieve significant therapeutic effects in various solid tumors. However, for pancreatic cancer, known as the "king of cancer", immunotherapy has been ineffective. On August 4, Professor Yu Xianjun, Dean of the Cancer Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Shi Si, Associate Professor of Pancreatic Surgery released a research achievement, which first found the key role of cysteine rich protein 1 in shaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment of pancreatic cancer, filled the gap in the research field of immunosuppressive microenvironment of pancreatic cancer, and provided a theoretical basis for precise immunotherapy of pancreatic cancer patients. Ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas is the main type of pancreatic cancer, accounting for about 90% of all pancreatic cancer. Due to its high malignancy and poor treatment effectiveness, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma has always been one of the most malignant tumors. In recent years, the level of surgical techniques and comprehensive treatment has been achieved

A 14-year-old girl has been experiencing symptoms such as protruding pupils, incomplete eye closure, corneal injury, restricted eye movement, and overall fatigue for several years. The physical discomfort and facial abnormalities caused by eye diseases have made her increasingly reticent, and her temperament is vastly different from before. At the Ophthalmology Department of the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the pupil has been diagnosed with a rare thyroid ophthalmopathy combined with myasthenia gravis, which requires prompt treatment. However, considering the young age of the pupil, conventional hormone and radiation therapy cannot be used. Therefore, Zhou Huifang, Deputy Director of Ophthalmology and thyroid ophthalmology expert, has developed a targeted drug combined with surgical treatment plan for it, and targeted drug treatment will be performed first. Three months ago, I was hospitalized for one week with mydriasis and received intravenous targeted drug treatment. Afterwards, I went home for observation and followed up on time

Recently, autologous hematopoietic stem cell therapy was completed in Shanghai, and British girls born in the 1990s have suffered from multiple relapses of blood diseases, including stem cells, peripheral blood, and diseases

Recently, Catherine, a British girl born in the 1990s, received autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transfusion at the Cancer Center of Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital, and was successfully discharged from the warehouse. She is now on her way back to China after being discharged from the hospital. She is also the first patient at Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital to complete relevant treatments. In 2019, Catherine was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in the UK, and after treatment, the disease completely improved. During her work and life in China in 2021, she went to seek medical attention due to multiple enlarged lymph nodes. Pathological biopsy confirmed a recurrence of Hodgkin's lymphoma, and through combined targeted drug treatment, her condition was temporarily under control. Last year in the second half of the year, when the disease recurred, the girl began to use immunotherapy combined with targeted drugs for treatment. Expert evaluation suggests that for young patients with hematological tumors, the risk of recurrence is high and treatment difficulty is increasing in the future. Autologous hematopoietic stem cell therapy is recommended
