Photo exhibition "160 years of dedicated humanitarian journey" opens in Shanghai
This morning, the Shanghai tour of the photo exhibition "160 Years of Humanitarian Journey with Determination" opened at the Municipal Workers' Cultural Palace. Chen Zhu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress and President of the Red Cross Society of China, and Hua Yuan, Vice Mayor of Shanghai and President of the Municipal Red Cross Society, attended the opening ceremony.
The tour was co-sponsored by the Red Cross Society of China, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Xinhua News Agency, and co-organized by the Shanghai Red Cross Society and the Red Cross Foundation of China. The exhibition reviews the 160-year history of the International Red Cross Movement and the reform and development process of the Red Cross Society of China, and demonstrates the important contributions made by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to unite all parties for world peace and progress.
This year marks the 160th anniversary of the founding of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Over the past 160 years, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has spread all over the world, with more than 190 national Red Cross societies and more than 100 million volunteer workers, making important contributions to world peace and progress.
Shanghai is the birthplace of the Red Cross Society of China. In 1904, in order to rescue Chinese refugees during the Russo-Japanese War, the "Shanghai Branch of the Red Cross Society of All Nations" was established in Shanghai, and the Red Cross Society of China was born. Since its establishment, the Red Cross Society of China has played an important role in major disaster relief, protecting life and health, and promoting peace and progress of mankind.
The more than 100 photos and videos on display at the touring exhibition tell the story of the 160-year development history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and demonstrate the glorious history of the Red Cross Society of China in the past 120 years and the reform and development achievements of the Shanghai Red Cross Society. Behind each picture are touching stories and wonderful moments, reflecting the light of humanitarianism.
It is reported that the touring exhibition will be on display from October 25 to November 7. Citizens can visit the exhibition for free. Groups visiting the exhibition can make an appointment to explain the visit through the Shanghai Red Cross public subscription account.
