Myopia is an important visual health problem that affects the visual health of children and adolescents. Once it occurs, it is difficult to reverse. Myopia at younger ages can easily develop into high myopia, causing irreversible visual damage or even blindness. On the occasion of World Vision Day, the country's first standardized exhibition hall for comprehensive prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents has been officially launched and will be open to the public by appointment in the future.
In 2019, commissioned by the National Health Commission, the Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center implemented a national comprehensive standardized pilot project for the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents. The project has successfully passed acceptance in 2022.
In order to deepen the project results and transform them into practical applications, under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, the Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center launched the construction of the country's first comprehensive standardized exhibition hall for prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents. By benchmarking national standards and combining Shanghai's actual , to demonstrate Shanghai’s relevant measures and experience in comprehensive prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents.
The exhibition hall is located in Building 9, Hongqiao Road, Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center. It consists of the Bright Eye Campus Smart Screening Room, the Standardized Myopia Prevention and Control Classroom, the Standardized Myopia Prevention and Control Family Room, the Shanghai Bright Eye Road Room, and the Myopia Prevention Room. It consists of 6 exhibition rooms, including a publicity and education room and myopia prevention and control measures. It displays the "Shanghai Model" of myopia prevention and control of "government-led, prevention-focused, medical-prevention integration, medical-education collaboration, and comprehensive policy implementation" from different angles.
The exhibition hall aims to provide standardized solutions for the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents, provide visual models for grassroots personnel, and help achieve the national strategic goal of reducing the myopia rate among children and adolescents. Subsequent exhibition halls will also be open for visits by appointment to promote the exchange and sharing of experiences.
As the only governing unit in China of the International Association for the Prevention of Blindness, the Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center has long been committed to improving the public's visual health and contributing to the promotion of human "light". In 2010, the center took the lead in establishing refractive files for millions of children in the country, establishing a dynamic closed-loop management system for myopia classification and classification that "integrates medicine, education, and medicine and prevention." In 2014, the center was included in the city's basic public health services, and a total of 3.54 million children have been registered so far. , 11.43 million people were screened. Among them, the pioneering visual acuity combined with non-mydriasis optometry screening method for myopia was adopted by the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Education as a national myopia survey plan in 2018. It was written into the appropriate technical guide for myopia prevention and control in 2019 and released as a national health industry standard in 2020. .
During this World Vision Day, in order to spread the knowledge of eye care and eye protection and let health education and science popularization play a greater role, the Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center, Shanghai Visual Health Center/Shanghai Children and Adolescent Myopia Prevention and Treatment Technology Center and the International Blindness Prevention Center The association jointly created and released Shanghai's limited edition LoveYourEyes theme series posters, and donated 582 sets of the children's eye protection picture book "Hello, Guangming Village" to 16 districts of the city for charity.
