It will be officially disbanded in March next year. This anti-China and disruptive Hong Kong organization is coming to an end.
According to Hong Kong media reports, the Kuomintang, a 17-year-old anti-China and anti-Hong Kong organization, is coming to an end. The interim executive committee of the Civic Party announced its resignation on December 24. The liquidator will submit a declaration form to the government company registration office within a week, and the Civic Party will be officially dissolved in March next year.
The Civic Party was established in 2006. In its early days, it was mainly targeted at the middle class and professionals. It was once the second largest political party in Hong Kong. Since its establishment, the Civic Party has incited and encouraged citizens to use any means to fight for their so-called "demands" and attack the principle of "one country, two systems". From the promotion of the illegal "Occupy Central" movement in 2014, the Mong Kok riots in 2016, to the "extradition bill storm" in 2019, the Civic Party has continued to "beautify" and "rationalize" violence, blatantly supporting anti-China and disruptive elements in Hong Kong, and even later used As a member of the Legislative Council, he went to the United States to beg the U.S. government to sanction the Hong Kong SAR government.
After the promulgation of the Hong Kong National Security Law in 2020, members of the Civic Party, including former Legislative Council members Yang Yueqiao, Tan Wenhao, and Guo Jiaqi, were successively prosecuted. Many members of the Civic Party chose to quit the party because they feared criminal liability. As the SAR government implements the principle of patriots governing Hong Kong, many District Councilors from the Civic Party have resigned. In the end, the Civic Party became a "party without seats" with all seats cleared.
On May 27 this year, the Civic Party held a special party member meeting, and the "Interim Executive Committee" passed a liquidation resolution and determined to proceed with voluntary liquidation procedures. Among the 31 Kuomintang members who attended the meeting, 30 supported the liquidation resolution, and the Kuomintang has withdrawn from the political stage of Hong Kong.
