The "Beijing Garden City Special Plan" was issued on April 25 this year. At a relevant press conference held today, reporters learned that as of the end of 2023, Beijing’s forest coverage rate reached 44.9%, the 500-meter service radius coverage of park green spaces reached 90.5%, and the per capita park green space area reached 16.9 square meters. It has become the first full-area forest city among provincial cities in the country.
The "Plan" clarifies that by 2035, the forest coverage rate in Beijing will reach more than 45%. At the same time, more pocket parks and small green spaces will be built around citizens to ensure that by 2035, the per capita park green space area in built-up areas will reach more than 17 square meters, and the coverage rate of the 500-meter service radius of park green space will reach more than 95%.
Shi Xiaodong, member of the party group, chief planner and spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission, introduced that the "Plan" clearly stated that the spatial pattern of "one screen and five belts, two axes and three rings, nine wedges and fifteen slices" should be deepened: Etaihang Mountain , Yanshan serves as an ecological forest barrier, with five rivers including Yongding River and Chaobai River running through the city of landscapes and people, using two axes to show the image of the capital of a great country, using three park rings to build a recreational system, and using nine wedge-shaped green spaces to enhance the city's ecological functions and dig deeper. Respect the natural landscape pattern, comply with the geographical and climatic characteristics, explore the historical and cultural resources of the capital, build a landscape corridor system, create the highlight of the fifth facade, and shape the characteristic style of the garden city.
