In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of my country, retired comrades are not only witnesses of major diplomatic events and activities of New China, but also erudite and wise experts on international issues. After these veteran diplomats who devoted their whole lives to the diplomatic cause of New China retired, many of them did not take care of themselves but continued to write. It was learned from the conference held today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic PEN that over the past 30 years, members of Diplomatic PEN have completed hundreds of millions of words of diplomatic-themed works.
The PEN Club for Veteran Cadres of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was initiated by 14 retired veteran diplomats including former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Fu Hao, and currently has 186 members. In line with the purpose of "preserving history, informing politics, and educating people", PEN organizes and promotes members to write various works with the main themes of diplomacy, foreign affairs activities and related international issues, exchange experiences, and improve together.
A conference was held today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic PEN.
Among them, PEN members have edited and published "Chinese Diplomats Series", "Senior Diplomats See the World", "Diplomats' Notes", "World Hot Issues Series", "Diplomatic Declassified Archives Series", "New China Diplomacy Experience", "Witness History: The Republic of China" Ambassador's Narration" and many other book series and monographs. The "Us and You" series of books with the theme of "One Belt, One Road" has published 26 books and has been well received by all walks of life.
PEN members also often elaborate on my country's foreign policy principles, concepts and achievements, analyze and comment on the international situation and major international events by writing comments, delivering speeches, accepting interviews, etc., and are instrumental in guiding the public to correctly understand and understand my country's diplomacy and comprehensively and objectively understand international affairs. played a positive role.
In addition, PEN members try to disseminate diplomatic achievements and concepts through various forms such as novels, movies, Weibo, and social media to promote a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of diplomacy in society. Some members have translated and published many books by virtue of their foreign language proficiency and rich diplomatic experience.
Liu Jingyan, a PEN member who has served as the second secretary, first secretary, and director of the research office in the Chinese embassy in Chile, Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, said, “Writing makes my retirement life very fulfilling.
