They raised five consecutive questions, facing the Pentagon's "aid to Ukraine debt"
According to a report on the website of the Congressional Hill Daily on September 4th, there were billions of dollars in accounting errors in the Pentagon's previously approved aid plan for Ukraine, and Republicans are trying to use this to block President Biden's request for an additional $24 billion for Kiev.
According to reports, as lawmakers return to the Capitol building this week, a struggle is expected to unfold over the Biden administration's demand for more US dollars for Ukraine. Previously, the US Department of Defense made a major accounting error, making it difficult to determine how much money was spent on purchasing weapons for Ukraine.
The Pentagon earlier admitted that it overestimated the total value of weapons provided to Ukraine by $6.2 billion. Republican skeptics seized on this accounting error, claiming that the government's commitment to aid Ukraine by the United States would last "without any concept" and used it as a reason to reject its funding request.
This view was expressed in a letter drafted by Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance and Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy. They stated that it is "absurd" to have the parliament approve additional funding when the government "cannot figure out" how much funds are flowing into Ukraine.
"The American people should know where their money has gone? How is the progress of the counterattack? Are the Ukrainians closer to victory than six months ago? What is our strategy? What is the President's exit plan?" They wrote, "approving this request without knowing the answers to these questions would be a ridiculous abandonment of congressional responsibility."
