The 13th China Automotive Forum on July 6th, titled "New Trends and Future Development of the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry," announced that China's intelligent connected vehicles are in a critical stage of transitioning from L2 level assisted driving to L3 level autonomous driving and L4 level autonomous driving.
It is gratifying that Shanghai International Automobile City, located in Jiading, Shanghai, has taken the lead in the field of intelligent networking. There is data indicating that the total mileage of autonomous driving tests in Jiading has reached 10.79 million kilometers on the vehicle side, and the scale of various vehicle demonstration applications ranks first in the country; At the roadside, Jiading has built over 300 smart intersections, with a cumulative construction of 350 kilometers of high-precision road network, supporting more than 1580 autonomous driving test scenarios from L2 to L4 levels; At the city end, Jiading has built a leading data base for the car city network, which can deeply perceive the fully quantified urban operation status, form intelligent monitoring of municipal infrastructure status, and achieve a refined management application loop of intelligent discovery, automatic dispatch, and time limited disposal.
Pan Xiaohong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Shanghai International Automobile City Co., Ltd., stated that in the future, we will further explore the "dual intelligence" collaboration to empower intelligent driving, smart transportation, and smart cities, and help Shanghai's digital transformation.
In recent years, automobiles have accelerated their transformation from transportation to mobile intelligent terminals, and intelligent connected vehicles have become a key carrier of information flow in the digital economy era as a hub for the coordinated development of smart cities, intelligent transportation, smart energy, and other areas. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in 2022, the penetration rate of L2 level passenger cars with combined driving assistance functions reached 34.5%. Various regions across the country have launched multi scenario demonstration applications such as autonomous taxis, unmanned buses, autonomous valet parking, trunk logistics, and unmanned delivery. The penetration rate of L2 level assisted driving exceeds one-third, and the cumulative open test road mileage in China exceeds 15000 kilometers... With the wave of "new four modernizations" sweeping the industry, intelligent connected vehicles in China are increasingly shifting from being "black technology" in science fiction movies to being "within reach" in daily life.
As early as 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the construction of the first national level "Intelligent Connected Vehicle Pilot Demonstration Zone" in Jiading. As a representative of the first batch of pilot projects for the coordinated development of smart city infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicles in Shanghai, Jiading relies on the construction foundation of the demonstration zone to comprehensively promote multi-dimensional data sharing and sharing among vehicles, roads, and cities, and accelerate the construction of a digital infrastructure model with intelligent connected vehicles as the core carrier.
In fact, walking on the streets of Jiading, autonomous taxis, unmanned delivery vehicles, and unmanned cleaning vehicles have become commonplace. As of the end of May 2023, 20 companies including SAIC Xiangdao, AUTO X, Baidu, and Xiaoma Zhixing have continuously conducted testing and demonstration applications on 519 vehicles in Jiading, with a cumulative testing mileage and testing duration accounting for 77% and 86% of the total in Shanghai, respectively.
The first lightweight and large-scale vehicle road collaborative environment has been built, the first virtual simulation+real vehicle testing dual application environment has been constructed, and the first "high flow, high dynamics, and high complexity" autonomous driving highway application scenario has been opened up. The "dual intelligence integration" in Jiading, Shanghai has achieved fruitful results.
