On the occasion of the 9th "7.15 World Youth Skills Day", the "Big Country Little Craftsman" Youth Skills Experience Theme Day, hosted by the Municipal Employment Promotion Center, was held today at the China High Skilled Talent Public Training Center. The summary of the event reviewed the development process of "Big Country Little Craftsmen" over the past five years, and released a new season of youth skills experience theme arrangements. The "Skills Master Lecture Hall" and Skills Carnival experience activities attracted nearly 200 young people to actively participate.
At the event, Wang Wei, a senior technician from COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd., shared his story with the domestically produced C919 aircraft. He grew up playing with his father's wooden airplane and established the belief that "when he grows up, he either flies or manufactures airplanes.". When the country restarted the large aircraft project, he gave up his high salary and joined the front line of aircraft manufacturing, starting from the most ordinary sheet metal worker and growing into a national technical expert and Chinese quality craftsman. 14 craftsmen from major countries, including Wang Wei, serve as skill mentors and will regularly tell stories of skill development to young people.
At the first Skills Carnival experience event, five projects including creative tea art, future photography, jewelry appraisal, bracelet design, and traditional Chinese medicine medicine allowed teenagers to experience the charm of professional skills in a relaxed atmosphere. The organizer introduced that in addition to the China High Skilled Talent Public Training Center and the China Entrepreneurs Public Training Base under the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Department, 9 institutions including the Third Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, Shentong Metro, 3M China, and Shida Tools have also joined the "Youth Skills Practice Base" alliance and will regularly hold skills experience activities.
It is understood that "Big Country Little Craftsman" is a brand activity organized by the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Department, which is open to the public welfare of young people in this city. It is also a theme activity open to the government of the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The activity aims to enable teenagers to understand a profession, delve into a skill, experience a culture, feel the charm of skills, touch the career development direction that suits them, and establish the ideal of "skill success and skill service to the country" through skill experience. Since 2018, the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Department has customized and developed more than 30 skill experience projects, and has carried out more than 80 skills summer camps, skill experience days, master lectures, and other activities, benefiting more than 160000 primary and secondary school students in the city.
