Suzhou, the "strongest prefecture level city": the future total industrial output value will exceed 1 trillion yuan by 2035
Suzhou, a strong manufacturing city in the Yangtze River Delta, seeks to cultivate new development momentum. In early September, the Suzhou Municipal Government issued the "Work Opinions on Accelerating the Cultivation of Future Industries", aiming to promote future industries such as the metaverse and hydrogen energy, and enhance the city's new competitive advantages.
According to the Opinion, Suzhou aims to break through a batch of key core technologies that fill domestic gaps by 2030, effectively connect future industries with strategic emerging industries and advantageous leading industries, and achieve a total industrial output value of over 500 billion yuan in the future; By 2035, one to two future industry innovation clusters with a value of 100 billion yuan will be formed, leading the country, and the total output value of future industries will exceed one trillion yuan.
Meanwhile, Suzhou aims to cultivate more than 10 future industrial innovation platforms by 2030; Nurture more than 20 future industry chain main enterprises, optimize the collaborative innovation mechanism of large, medium, and small enterprises; Improve the transformation system of future industrial innovation achievements and build more than 10 future industrial pilot parks; Launch over 100 core products, create over 100 application scenarios, and build an industrial ecosystem that promotes and integrates development.
Pengpai News has noticed that Suzhou's key areas for developing future industries include cutting-edge new materials, photonic chips and optical devices, metaverse, hydrogen energy, digital finance, cell and gene diagnosis and treatment, aerospace development, quantum technology, etc. Previously, Suzhou had made many attempts in the future industry. For example, at the beginning of this year, Suzhou issued the "Suzhou Peiyu Metaverse Industry Innovation and Development Guidance", proposing that by 2025, the scale of metaverse related industries would reach 200 billion yuan.
Suzhou has a strong industrial manufacturing foundation, gathering over 160000 industrial enterprises, covering 35 major industry categories, 172 medium industry categories, and 513 industry subcategories. It is one of the cities with the most complete industrial system in China and even globally. In 2022, Suzhou achieved an industrial output value of 4.36 trillion yuan, ranking second in the country, only behind Shenzhen. In the first half of this year, Suzhou's four major industrial clusters of electronic information, equipment manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, and advanced materials achieved a total output value of 1810.8 billion yuan, possessing strong scale advantages. It can be said that relying on the advantages of industrial agglomeration and technological accumulation, Suzhou has the opportunity and ability to seize future industries.
