"Since the beginning of this year, even if we moved to a larger store in Pudong, we have been queuing up every day and our business has been very hot." The Shanghai Benbang Restaurant "Xingxing Haipai Benbang Cuisine" on Qihe Road has been in operation for 23 years and has been listed on the Dianping "Must Eat List" restaurant this year, which has increased the customer flow of the store by another 30%.
The steady recovery of the catering industry is a microcosm of the strong trend of service-oriented consumption represented by "eating, drinking, playing, shopping, and entertainment". According to data from the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics, from January to July this year, Shanghai achieved a total retail sales of 1081.457 billion yuan in consumer goods, an increase of 20.5% compared to the same period last year. The growth rate of service retail led the overall market, far exceeding that of commodity retail.
Immersive experience of close-up magic in a small magic club, almost reaching out to touch the table where the magician performs; On the way to City Walk, three or five friends gathered around a Chinese tea house, enjoying a pot of tea and some specialty snacks, passing a few hours of time; In the popular commercial district of the city center, food restaurants and fireworks markets continue to ignite the night economy. These distinctive small shops have given rise to diverse service retail scenarios, enriching the daily consumption of citizens while gathering strong momentum to promote rapid growth in local consumption.
According to the Meituan platform, the number of small stores in Shanghai ranks third in the country. The "small store economy" that emphasizes diversification and differentiation, guided by improving consumer service experience, has further promoted the structural adjustment of the Shanghai economy towards a "service-oriented" orientation. Throughout July, the growth rate of Shanghai service retail orders on the Meituan platform was 58.7%, with a growth rate of nearly 170% for leisure and entertainment, and nearly 60% for catering. The constantly emerging new consumer demands have given rise to diverse new business formats, driving the vitality of local service industry entities to burst out.
