On September 6th, a reporter from Justice Network learned from the Supreme People's Procuratorate that Tan Zhenghong, former standing committee member and secretary-general of the Yueyang Municipal Party Committee in Hunan Province, is suspected of accepting bribes. The case has been designated by the Hunan Provincial People's Procuratorate for jurisdiction and has been prosecuted by the Xiangtan Municipal People's Procuratorate to the Xiangtan Intermediate People's Court in accordance with the law.
During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial organs informed the defendant of Tan Zhenghong's litigation rights in accordance with the law, interrogated the defendant in accordance with the law, and listened to the opinions of the defense counsel.
The People's Procuratorate of Xiangtan City charges that the defendant Tan Zhenghong, as a state functionary, used his position to seek benefits for others and illegally accepted other people's property alone or in conjunction with others, with a particularly large amount of money. He should be held criminally responsible for the crime of bribery according to law.

According to public data, Tan Zhenghong was born in October 1961, started working in August 1981, and joined the CPC in June 1988. He has a correspondence degree. He has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Quyuan Management District in Yueyang City, Director of the Yueyang Construction Bureau, Director of the Yueyang Housing and Urban Rural Development Bureau, and other positions. In 2013, he served as the Secretary General and Director of the Yueyang Municipal Government Office. In 2016, he served as a member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the Yueyang Municipal Committee, and stepped down in 2021.
Before Tan Zhenghong voluntarily surrendered, the seventh inspection team of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee had already carried out inspection work in Yueyang City.

On June 16, 2023, the Hunan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision issued a notice stating that Tan Zhenghong, former member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the Yueyang Municipal Party Committee in Hunan Province, had been expelled from the Party.
The report shows that Tan Zhenghong has lost his ideals and beliefs, abandoned his original mission, and wanted to become both an official and a wealthy person. He has turned public power into a tool for personal gain, and is enthusiastic about serving as a platform for illegal merchants. He engages in political and commercial collusion, power and money trading, believing in "having power but not using it, and becoming invalid after it expires". He is even more reckless when approaching retirement, and his views on power are becoming increasingly distorted, crazily accumulating wealth. Ignoring the spirit of the central eight point regulations, accepting gifts in violation of regulations for a long time, seeking pleasure, and repeatedly accepting golf activities arranged by management and service recipients in violation of regulations; Lack of organizational awareness and failure to truthfully explain issues during inquiries; Being an official without integrity, illegally borrowing money from management and service targets, obtaining large returns through private lending, illegally purchasing original shares and profiting from them, morally corrupt, and engaging in money and sex trading; Violation of law enforcement activities; Taking advantage of one's position to seek benefits for others in engineering project contracting and illegally accepting huge amounts of property.
Tan Zhenghong seriously violates the Party's organizational discipline, integrity discipline, and work discipline, constitutes serious violations of official duties, and is suspected of accepting bribes. He did not restrain or stop after the 18th National Congress of the Party, and did not show respect or stop after the 19th National Congress of the Party. His nature is serious and his impact is severe, and he should be dealt with severely. According to the Regulations of the CPC on Disciplinary Punishment, the Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on Administrative Punishments of Public Officials and other relevant provisions, after being studied at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Hunan Province and reported to the Hunan Provincial Party Committee for approval, Tan Zhenghong was decided to be expelled from the Party and his treatment was cancelled as required; Confiscate their illegal gains, transfer their suspected bribery issues to the procuratorial organs for legal review and prosecution, and transfer the involved property together.
