SAIC Maxus 7 Global Debut: Tailored MPV for Large Family Users | Maxus | Global

Release time:Apr 16, 2024 16:47 PM

Recently, the Chengdu Auto Show kicked off, and SAIC Maxus made its global debut as the "Big Family Luxury Electric MPV" with a starting price of 259800 yuan.

With the continuous implementation of the two child and three child policies, the number of families with multiple children has increased, and the consumption level has been increasing day by day. The demand for family travel has changed, and traditional sedans and SUVs that sacrifice comfort can no longer meet the needs of large families. Following this change, MPVs with spacious spaces are gradually developing from commercial to family markets. As a company that has been deeply involved in MPV for ten years, SAIC MAXUS has created a "everyone 7" brand specifically designed for the big family, adding another spark to the high-end MPV market.

Unlike the current luxury MPV market, which is constantly adding layers of materials, the Big 7 does not choose "bigger is better" in terms of size. However, it is equipped with multiple "unique" technologies of the same level, and clever ideas designed for family travel can be seen everywhere in the details. The so-called "too much is too little," and the emergence of everyone 7 has filled the gap in the current home MPV market at the right time.

A timely product

In July of this year, within less than three months of entering the Hong Kong market for the first time, the sales of Group 9 exceeded 500 units, becoming the highest monthly sales Chinese brand MPV in the local area, meeting the needs of local users for business receptions, nanny cars, and family trips. However, due to geographical limitations, another group of local household users in Hong Kong hope to have MPV models with more flexible sizes, which can meet the needs of families for travel and also make driving easier amidst the hustle and bustle of traffic.

Actually, this was already under consideration by JPMorgan Chase. Chen Chao, Deputy General Manager of SAIC Maxus Passenger Car Business Unit, pointed out that previously, most full-size MPVs on the market had a length of over 5 meters, a width of nearly 2 meters, and a height of generally over 1.8 meters. The huge interior space provides users with high-end enjoyment, but at the same time, it also makes it difficult for some car owners, such as those in Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing, etc., who have less parking space, limited parking spaces, or share parking spaces with others in the community.

However, looking at the current new energy segment market, most car companies are generally going further and further on the "bigger is better" track: for example, the recently released Wei Pai Gaoshan and Hechuang V09 generally have dimensions exceeding 5 meters, and some domestic brands are planning MPV models that are said to have dimensions exceeding 5.3 meters, which may seem comfortable but are actually not user-friendly. Prices have also skyrocketed: most car models are priced above 350000 yuan, and some brands have directly announced that they are targeting markets above 500000 yuan. This makes it rare for car models that are truly suitable for car owners and their families to drive, while also being convenient for taking care of the elderly and children.

At this year's Chengdu Auto Show, SAIC Maxus launched the new MPV Dajia 7, specifically designed to address the pain points of this group of customers, truly tailoring it to the needs of big families.

Tailored to the details

What is "tailoring to measure"? The answer to Da Tong is a comprehensive approach from the inside out.

From an appearance perspective, the Volkswagen 7 is positioned as a mid size MPV, with dimensions of 4907mm x 1885mm x 1768mm, making it easy to enter and exit underground three-dimensional garages with strict body size requirements. While parking is convenient, there is no sacrifice for internal comfort, and the occupancy rate of the space is very high: the net height inside the car is 1200 millimeters, allowing children to stand and shuttle in the car; With a wheelbase of 2975mm, it is the longest among new energy MPVs within 5 meters, with an axle to length ratio of 61%, providing 947mm of effective legroom in the second row. Even when the third row is full, the trunk can still accommodate one 28 inch and two 20 inch suitcases.

Entering the car, in addition to the conventional "2+2+3" seven seat layout, Datong has also creatively introduced a "2+1+3" seat layout: a 2-meter long guide rail has been made on the passenger side of the first and second rows, allowing the seats to slide from the first row to the second row. This seat itself can rotate 180 degrees, providing possibilities for many scenarios. For example, when the seat is in the first row, the space on the right side of the second row becomes a space for pets, so pets don't have to be in their own trunk like second-class citizens. When the seat is moved back, it becomes a "queen" seat again. After the seat is rotated, it can become a scene of "face-to-face gathering" with family.

In response to the range anxiety issue of family users, everyone 7 is equipped with SAIC Group's 90kWh Rubik's Cube battery and advanced BMS, with a CLTC range of 605 kilometers, which basically meets the needs of family users for cross city travel. In the future, battery swapping or PHEV versions will also be launched.

It is worth noting that everyone 7 is equipped with the CMS electronic exterior rearview mirror system, which is currently the only MPV model in the world equipped with this system. CMS provides drivers with a broad field of vision, bidding farewell to blind spots: it increases the default field of view by 2.8 times in high-speed and turning visibility; When reversing, the view moves down 6 degrees and the field of view increases by 2.8 times. This is very friendly to many users who drive their own vehicles: in rainstorm, fog, or bad night light, the picture presented by the external physical rear-view mirror through the side window is very blurred, or even cannot see clearly, while the vehicle equipped with CMS electronic rear-view mirror is still very clean and clear in the car screen regardless of the outside weather or light. During driving, vehicles with larger rearview mirrors usually have higher wind noise near the A-pillar, but electronic exterior rearview mirrors tend to cause wind noise to approach zero. Meanwhile, electronic exterior rearview mirrors can help reduce wind resistance by an additional 3% and improve energy efficiency.

Unlike the ultimate luxury of business travel, home users pursue a balance between comfort and cost-effectiveness. Everyone is also considerate in this regard: the car refrigerator, large screen, and other accessories are all available, with high-power V2L discharge function inside and outside the car, supporting the operation of multiple electrical appliances inside the car. Car grade refrigerators can achieve one click cooling or heating within 0-50 ℃. Items can be placed in the refrigerator in just 27 minutes, dropping from 30 ℃ to 0 ℃. The refrigerator can also be set to work continuously for 24 hours after locking the car and getting off the car. However, the minimum power consumption is only 0.055 kilowatt hours per hour, allowing you to enjoy the convenience of going out without worrying about burning money.

Unified standards at home and abroad

Recently, we have been following two well-known brand MPV traffic accidents: one where the door cannot be opened when encountering a traffic accident, and the other where the A-pillar bends during a collision test, resulting in a large amount of intrusion into the B-pillar and posing a safety hazard risk. This also returns to the clich é d theme: no matter how luxurious the configuration is, it is not worth mentioning in the face of safety.

Hao Jingxian, General Manager of SAIC Maxus, has repeatedly emphasized that Maxus has always adhered to the dual line development of domestic and foreign products, and adhered to the "high quality and high price" route when developing products. For Datong, which has always been committed to entering developed markets, this means that everything is built to the strictest standards - for example, last year's Dajia 9 won multiple highest scores in the European new Euro NCAP security test. "We need to establish global standards and not lower quality requirements for a particular region."

During the research and development process, everyone 7 strictly followed the "Global Five Star Safety" standards such as Euro NCAP in Europe and ANCAP in Australia, representing the highest global standard for automotive safety. The entire vehicle adopts an ultra-high strength cage type steel aluminum hybrid body, with a high-strength steel ratio of over 80%, of which ultra-high strength steel accounts for more than 27%. The torsional stiffness of the body can reach more than 2.5 times that of MPVs in the same class. The car is equipped with 6 airbags as standard, and the side air curtains cover 97% of the wheelbase, almost covering the front and rear 3 rows.

As an important position of SAIC Maxus in the home MPV market, everyone 7 has truly touched the pain points of home models, whether it is their commitment to quality, dedication to safety, creation of space, innovation in technology, or attention to details. It can be seen that it is a brand new electric vehicle truly designed for families.

It is understood that in October this year, everyone 7 will soon be launched and will begin to be delivered gradually. For the future of this car, Datong is very confident: "We believe that users can perceive the differentiated advantages of this product, and we also hope to let more users who buy medium and large pure electric models feel the charm of MPVs and accept our products more."
