After three years of waiting, the 2023 Shanghai Super Cup Short Track Speed Skating, Figure Skating, and Team Skating Grand Prix, one of the top domestic sports events in Shanghai with a total prize money of up to 412000 US dollars, is scheduled to return to Shanghai on October 3rd this year! At that time, more than 140 athletes from over 10 countries and 38 international level judges from around the world will gather in Pujiang for a three-day competition.
As the only city named Grand Prix of the International Skating Federation, the Shanghai Super Cup was successfully held three times in 2016, 2017, and 2019, and became one of the three major competitions of the International Skating Federation in China. This year is the restart of the event after it was suspended due to the epidemic. The Shanghai Super Cup this year will still include three popular events among the audience, including short track speed skating, figure skating, and queue skating.
Short track speed skating features 7 mixed team relay events for men and women, including the 500m, 1000m, 1500m, and 2000m. This year's Super Cup adopts targeted invitations to the top 24 ranked players from various national associations from the previous year. The Chinese team will determine the candidates to participate in the Super Cup after two rounds of the National Short Track Elite League, and there will be world champions competing; In addition, the South Korean national team has made it clear that they will participate.
In the four events of men's singles, women's singles, pairs skating, and ice dancing in figure skating, the Chinese team is led by two time World Championships bronze medalist Jin Boyang and the runner up of the International Skating Federation Figure Skating Grand Prix, Peng Cheng; Four teams from China, Germany, and Hungary have been confirmed to participate in the queue skating competition.
In the men's singles event, the Chinese team consists of two time World Championships bronze medalist Jin Boyang and young player Chen Yudong. The runner up of the 2023 International Skating Federation World Figure Skating Championships, South Korean athlete Che Jun hwan, world ranked 4th French athlete Adam Shoinfah, and world ranked 6th Italian athlete Matteo Rizzo will all participate. In terms of women's singles, China will send An Xiangyi and Chen Hongyi to participate, and the runner up of the 2023 International Skating Federation World Figure Skating Championships, South Korean athlete Li Hairen, and world ranked 9th athlete Peter Rokina will also participate.
The Chinese double skating team will send Peng Cheng, the runner up of the 2019/2020 International Skating Federation Figure Skating Grand Prix, and their new partner Wang Lei. In addition, young players Zhang Siyang and Yang Yongchao will participate in the Shanghai Super Cup for the first time. The Chinese team in the ice dance competition consists of two pairs: Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu, Chen Xizi/Xing Jianing. The world's top ranked Italian duo Charlene Djiniar/Marco Fabry will also participate.
In addition, there will be four teams participating in the queue skating competition, namely Hungary, Berlin 1 from Germany, Team Unity from Sydney Figure Skating Club in Australia, and China.

The Shanghai Super Cup is jointly hosted by the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the China Skating Association, the China Figure Skating Association, and the Shanghai Sports Bureau. This year's Shanghai Super Cup is the first time that the public has publicly recruited organizers, jointly organized by Five Star Sports Media Co., Ltd. under Shanghai Radio and Television Station and Yahao Sports Culture Media Co., Ltd., a large-scale sports event broadcasting planning and operation company. The Jiushi Sports APP will serve as the official ticketing platform for this event to customize ticket types and various activities for ice fans. It is expected to start online ticket sales in early September.
